Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Port 8/10/17?
« on: August 09, 2017, 11:14:09 PM »
So I got the port last week around 6pm and was graced with an awesome top water bite I hooked a striper dang near every cast throwing a heddon spook (small grade of fish). Decided to follow up yesterday in the morning to see if I could repeat my success but I ended up spending a ton of time on the water and only got a few mediocre bass to show for it didn't see a single striper! Admittedly though I kind of messed around early morning near the locks to see if I marked any salmon... fat chance. And squandered any chance of getting that early top water action.

Fish finder markings I believe were schools of baby striper but it also could of been shad they were heading.

Looking to probably hit it again tomorrow maybe a tad more seriously :p. Still trying to learn the port and I don't take bass fishing to seriously but if anyone wants to join I'll probably be in the parking lot of the barge canal by 730 or so. I'm going to load up my gear at 7.

Scored my first mackinaw today at fallen leaf wasn't really expecting to catch one as I had forgotten my fish finder back in sac but after a good 20 minutes of jigging some of my 2 ounce salmon lures I hooked up on a smaller 1-2lbs mackinaw (17 inches).

Excited to get back over there and try it again in the coming weeks.... With my fish finder. I should also note I was jigging in ~200 feet of water with monofilament... the amount of fish I missed for that mistake is unreal haha.

Went out again tonight, just got my fish finder installed on my kayak and I wanted to take it for a spin. Lots of bait in the water! Ran Into several Shad schools, fished a little bit and got a truly tiny striper... One for the record books.

Ya I changed the date it was a poorly thought out plan. However it looks like I'll be forced into Albion based on it's the only availability I can find haha. And recommendations on fishing over there?

How is the camping in shelter cove I know the fishing is good haha. And wow that looks beautiful near fort Bragg. Doesn't matter how remote as long as the roads aren't to bad. I mean I could take a 4x4 but trying to just use the subie to save gas.

Places to Launch and Camp / NorCal coastline recommendation
« on: June 21, 2017, 06:39:22 PM »
Looking to go camping in a couple weeks somewhere on northern California coastline, I'll be bringing my kayak so an easy launch spot would be preferable but most my friends will just be looking for a cool place to just hang out. Any favorite spots people can recommend?

Thanks

Went over there today to paddle around and get some exercise, tossed a line in the water here and there but didn't catch anything unfortunately.

Any recommendations for fishing striper over there? other than cut bait of course.

Hey everyone been surfing the forum for awhile as a guest, decided to finally make an account. I'll be fishing around Sacramento in my kayak a little more I think, mainly been doing shore fishing since I moved but i'd like to be out on the water more. Any tips would be appreciated :).
