Salmon Trolling

I’m thinking about getting a profisha 525, but am unsure how people go about trolling for salmon in them. Do y’all install a forward rod holder (what kind of install and where), hold it under your leg or use the rear rod holders (crazy?)? Any infor would be much appreciated.

I’m on a 575 and is a leg thing for me

Ive looked mine up and down thinking I could mount something forward but 1) not sure how things would hold up to stress over miles of trolling and 2) one of the best things about a stealth is a clean topsides

I thought about doing something flush mount but haven’t figured that one out

The rear rod holders work pretty well if you use your clicker but one of mine pulled out after pulling 2 or 2 1/2 lbs a lot of miles and I had to redo it The newer models are maybe reinforced better

Railblaza flush mount only requires 4 holes of 1/4 inch each. Scotty requires the same 4 holes along with a big one in the center. So, Railblaza might be worth a look-see…

I mounted a railblaza mount on my fish hatch, kinda mid toward me and slight left side.  My ff is on s suction cup mount which makes it moveable if obstucting my view. The location is perfect for trolling.  I also do not mind putting it in the flush mount behind me on the left side.

The leg thing is powerful, for sure.  I recommend trying to develop it before committing to drilling any holes.

Sounds like I’m going to learn to leg it. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to answer. I do love how minimalist the stealth deck is. Other than a fish finder, it seems like this is the way to go.

I am not stealthy, but I know some folks just stick the rod in the built in holder, which is behind the seat.

I leg it for halibut trolling but put it in the flush rod holder for salmon trolling (I clipped a rowing sculler mirror to my cap). I don't want to drill holes on my 525 so this is how I make it work in this season.
