General Talk / Re: Shipping frozen fish to Michigan?
« on: July 17, 2018, 04:46:24 PM »
I've done a couple of shipments of frozen fish cross country. Got myself a cheap Styrofoam cooler from the grocery store ($5), bought some dry ice from a local liquor store ($5-10), and shipped it 2-day from the USPS (~$40). It's a pain, but the fish has always gotten there frozen.

Okay- great. An other question if I may- how do you guys know if you're getting down to your targeted depths? I know how many pulls to let out, but should I just be looking at the angle of my line coming off my rod tip to guesstimate how deep I'm getting down?

Introductions / salmon rig

Hey Guys- I'm new to kayak salmon fishing. This is probably covered somewhere in this forum, but i'm not sure I have access to all the discussions yet.
I'm using 40lb braided line, a 10oz banana weight, and a watermelon apex. I'm sure everybody does it differently, but does that rig sound right, and is there some other basic setup that works? chillberg

Hey everybody- I've had a scupper pro for years now that I use for spearfishing, and I've been telling myself I'd eventually set it for fishing. After a half a decade maybe now is a reasonable time to actually do it... that and the recent salmon bite and all the pics I've been seeing online!
Will be going out tomorrow to try my luck.
Looking forward to learning more. Chillberg
