Finally stopped raining long enough to get out and fish. I was lucky to find some clear water.

Quit whining.  It'll be many months before I can go kayak fishing.

Yes, in the Clearwater Drainage in Western Montana, specifically Salmon Lake, Seeley Lake, and Lake Alva, pike is an invasive species which was introduced by bucket biologists in the 1980s, there is no limit on pike, game wardens encourage anglers to keep all pike, and you can spear pike both in open water periods and through the ice.  And I am enthusiastically assisting the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks in its efforts to reduce the pike population by open water fishing, ice fishing, and snorkeling and speargunning for pike.  It helps that pike are quite tasty.

So true.

I grew up in Iowa and did a lot of fishing in Minnesota and South Dakota, where walleye is king, and they hate northern pike. I always thought that was weird, because northerns are way more fun to catch, and great eating. They're my favorite freshwater fish...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] does it help that it’s a “cold” rain?
