Looks like the Fresh N Salty FB group is also doing an AOTY for 2024. Seems like they are doing the same thing with points and fish upgrades, etc.. It will be Statewide and I think they will allow motors, since it seems many FnS members use motors. $30 entry fee. They will probably have some good prizes - fishing gear, maybe even a peddle kayak, etc.. I imagine they might get a hundred or more participants.
I'm not interested if it includes motors.
I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, assuming the AOTY format originated here?

I'm not aware of a site, only FB. Seems like they might have to create one to enter the fish information.

Dig that fish logo  :smt003

Without engineering a site to do AOTY like NCKA has it would take a lot of effort to track and manage submissions.  Curious what they will be doing.  Kind of miss the idea of Kayak Wars, with a team battle going on.  Wonder what the rules and the scoring/judging system will be too.

Maybe we should bring back entry frees in 2024 and have prizes again?

LOL. Glad somebody said it.

Even the crew of the Islander was raggin' on those dudes.

I'll pass, not winning NCKA AOTY on a yearly basis is good enough for me.

Seen some shady shiat by a group of those dudes here in Monterey area. Wasn't that dude overfishing halibut on you tube from that group? He even implied that other folks were doing it, so he thought it was ok. Pls correct me if i am wrong.

At least we try to police our own or educate the person.

Central Coast Kayak Fishing has been using the iangler app for their AOTY competition for the past couple years.

Wrt not winning NCKA AOTY, it's obvious that, compared to me, you are a rank amateur...

I don’t intend to get involved with FnS, but I do like some of the differences with their AOTY.
Like:
- the separation of crappie from other sunfish
- the inclusion of carp and leopard shark

Or maybe I’m just looking for other fish since ocean salmon and rockfish  are closed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At any rate, I’m all for paying next year! $$

Some people don’t fresh water fish so I would never pay. Also they don’t have sturgeon in FNS their excuse for why they said people would drag oversized to shore to measure and get green sturgeon
