Yep.  We did it!!!  Within 5 minutes of hitting the water Howard McKim hooked up first.  As I turned to speed over to him, my line got slammed, then within a few minutes, both Allen Bushnell and Chris Mautino were hooked up.  Needless to say, it was pandemonium with all 4 of our kayaks getting towed around.  The support boat was busy zipping back and forth checking on us.  About an hour later Howard had his on the leader, then I did, and so did Allen.  We had sharks jumping all around us chasing salmon and at one point a humpback surfaced between Howard and I.  Lot's of life around.  Chris' popped off but he dropped a bait (whole salmon) back down and was slammed again.  We took 2 of the beast and released the other 2.  All the fish were estimated in the 400+ pound range.  Let me tell you, trying to deal with a large shark at the kayak gets your heart pumping.  We'll be having a shark eating party some time soon.  These fish are TASTY!  The 2 we kept taped out at 91 and 94 inches, and really fat.  These fish kicked our butts.  I couldn't straighten my right arm for a few hours as it cramped up in place.  I can't upload pics right now, but will get home late tonight and start in on a more detailed report with pics first thing tomorrow morning.  Allen B  is on his way to Ketchikan with Howard so maybe they will be able to upload some pics this evening.

.... I really hate to burst your bubble....but Dan recently caught and released a Great White Shark off Bean Hollow  :smt002 He used his Hobie as a "lure".....the only mistake Dan did was not take a picture with a measurement device right next to it  :smt011 Maybe Dan will learn from his mistake  :smt003

Most of us are guessing the GWS to be 12 to 15 feet long.....

But let's make sure that the Fish and Game doesn't find out about this.....after all, the GWS are protected....I'd hate to see Dan go to jail for harassing an endangered specie    :smt005

It's valdez Alaska.  I'm not sure what type of salmon they're using, but the pinks are probably running right now and they're pretty easy to catch.  Actually, pinks in Valdez are probably easiest fish I've ever caught.   Walk down to the dock, drop the spoon in the water, wait for the bite and set the hook.  You can catch dozens in an hour that way.

Can't wait to see the photos!
