I am having a hard time writing this message. I decided to do this three days ago and only today can I handle actually typing this message. Our good friend Chef Stephano once again is battling for his life against cancer. He fought and won once before and I know he will win again. Each battle takes it toll however emotionally, physically and financially. Chef has no insurance so paying the mounting bills is difficult at best. If you can afford to give any amount please go to this link and click the donate button.

Keep Chef in your thoughts and prayers.

Because our tournament, The Steve Moyer Memorial, was started as a way to help one of our kayak fishing families in need, not just as money for the ACS I feel that it would be appropriate to return to our roots. I do have a commitment to give the proceeds to the ACS, but I think a little skimming off the top would be OK. I will take $2.00 from each entry and donate it to the Chefstephano fund. I hope we can get more of you folks down here to support the event.

I got an idea.
How about a carwash fundraiser in San Jose and/or SF area?
Probably many us fall into the category of we are more than willing to give our time, but not in a position to give money.
Does anyone know of a suitable location with water, lots of traffic going nearby?
Does Costco, Walmart allow such events in their parking lots? Wharfs? Boat Landings? Your apartment/condo complex? Church?
Another idea is to make a deal with someone who is a firewood provider. We get a National Forest Service permit for collecting firewood, then go there this fall as a group with chainsaws, trailers to load/deliver our haul for a day or two of work.

How about the proceeds from the raffle at Bendo@Mendo?

Chef, our thoughts and best wishes are with you.

We have been kicking around other ideas so stay tuned. This was a fairly easy way to get things going but I think it is safe to say this will not be the only thing we do for Chef.

Cancer sucks.  I have lost too many family members (both human and animal) to cancer.

I can't give too much money right now, but I will help in any way that I can.

Hang in there Chef!

I too have lost family to Cancer.

We can always do some MBF derbys at Lexington,Stevens Creek, Oniel Forebay and Del Valle......the fee (any amount) will go directly to Chef's fight.

I kicked in something. chef, we never met but I always enjoyed your posts and I hope that you beat it again and that you are able to have some fun in the meantime. I know that sounds weird, but I have seen people have lots of good moments despite illnesses and treatments and I hope you are able to have some of the same. Best wishes for your mom too.

I've never met chef either but I like to help where/how I can. I'm sure that what I contributed is only a drop in the bucket but I'm also in favor of helping in other ways if possible.

Both you and your mother will be in our thoughts and prayers.
