Well the angel island camping trip was a success did not catch many fish some small
Sharks and a few crabs that was it but camping on and island in the middle of SF bay was great fun.

The kayak camp sucked first of all there was a big tide Monday night and the rules
Read that you must have your kayaks off the beach by 8 pm at this spot the was no way
This was going to happen there was a big landslide that went all the way to the water.
And hauling all that gear up the hill was not going to be easy + I climbed all way up
The hill and did not find the camp site so after reading the itinerary that they sent me
I thought that this must not be the kayak camping site this is what the note on the itinerary read.

The Kayak Camp is on the western side of the island and is a group area for kayakers and other campers numbering 20 people or less. It is located near a small beach, making it ideal for those campers traveling by kayak. A flush toilet and water supply is located approximately 100 yards away, up on the perimeter road. Kayak campers must remove boats from the beach area after sunset until 8:00a.m. The group site is a one mile walk from the public ferry dock. Customers must show proof of reservation (confirmation letter) to ferry operator to avoid paying park entrance fee.

So we paddle a little farther south and found the next beach witch was next to the old fort with a rest room 100 yards up the hill next to the perimeter road so I thought this must be it so we set camp there on a seawall right next to the beach see pics this was a nice spot
With a view of the GG bridge + we fished off the shore all night that is where we got all the crabs 6 large Dungeness thought about cooking them but did not think was a good idea so we let them go. The paddle there was brutal the wind was in your face all the way
It took 4 hours to get there from paradise marina only because my buddy Dave don’t paddle to well + we had a lot of gear on each kayak mine being the heaviest with the cooler on the back when the wind hits that cooler from the side it just wants to push you in a circle what a %$#@ BITCH that was I had to paddle on one side of the kayak all
Way across the raccoon strait 20mi hour wind right at my right side I thought my arms
Were going to fall off but any way it was all worth it because we did not get caught
Camping were we did so that was cool going to look for a better place to launch
So next time it won’t be so bad to get there. Seeya Duane

PS.. I know that first camp we stopped was the kayak camp but it sucked no way
I was camping there you can’t see the beach from there + the climbed up the hill
With all that gear there was no way I was leaving my kayak on that narrow beach
All night with that big tide coming in but hay I paid 37 $$ so I wanted to get my moneys
Worth.   :smt006
