16 ft may be a little long for me.  Now that you're downsizing your fleet which ones are you focusing on as your favorites?
- 1st place 2010 New Melones Trout Bout

but have always had a great time at every NCKA event I've had the good fortune to attend.

i will be using the revo almost exclusively, maybe the hobie sport when i feel lazy and just want a kayak i can pick up and carry with one hand.  the trident 15 i currently own is a spare kayak for friends and hopefully for heroes on the water this summer.

Tempting. Let me run it by my wife to see if I get any death threat. Can you post a couple pictures? I'm interested to see the mounts and the scratches you mentioned. Thx.

I have an Adventure and it will get you way out there quick.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

Have you sold your Adventure yet? I'm new to the sport and am looking for my first kayak. All my research leads me to believe that I want a Hobie Revolution. I want to start off with a used kayak first and if I really get involved then I'll upgrade to a new one. Is the Adventure too much boat for a newb?

i would say that the adventure is not too much boat for a newb, but it does take some getting used to.  where do you live?

you should go out and test out a few.  if you live anywhere near me or are interested in coming out to new melones on the 20th for the event then i'd be more than happy to let you use it for the day to see if it is a fit for you (as long as it is not sold by then). i would also let you ride my revo for a little while to see if that might be a better fit.

it is still for sale.

Depends on the newb. :smt003   It is what I started on but I didn't rush into things.  My first dozen or so trips were on freshwater and I made sure I was familiar with it.  Helps that I'm 6' & 190lbs.

I have another yak but this is still my go-to ride.  I love it.

This is a great deal and like Amphibian said, it will get you to the fishing grounds fast.

I tested both the Outback and the Revolution two weeks ago at California Canoe and Kayak, the guys were great answered all our newb questions.
I would very much like to join you guys at New Melones. Even if you have sold the Adventure at the very least I could learn how you rig up and the basics to get started. I do fish, just high mountain streams and lakes so I'll probably need a new pole (Oh darn.) Just let me know where, New Melones is a big lake.

Strucdog I will bring my adventure for you to use that day. Make sure you being your own pfd and some rods as I won't let you on my boat without a pfd I can spare if u need one but it may not fit you. I will personally be launching at glory hole ramp at 630-700 that day so arrange to meet me around that time. Check the events forum for more info about the event.

Send me a pm with any additional questions.

OK bassmanben, I will be at glory hole at 6:30 ready to go. I will get a pfd, bring a couple of poles, and review the forum. I will post questions as they come up.
