Yep, dad has it.  Fairly far along I guess.  Wanted him to come out this next year and try kayak fishing for trout with me, not looking too promising.  Sad day. :smt009
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

I  F%$%^ hate cancer. It has torn through my family. I'm next door in Roseville. Let me know if I can do anything.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

It's tough to have acquired this kind of wisdom through experience myself, but I can't stress enough how true these words are.  Find the half-full part, Brother.  Everyone close to your Dad is at a major crossroads that will affect the rest of their lives - whether they know it or not.  Do the right thing for your Dad by sorting out the things you can control vs those you cannot.  There's no second take on how the family handles all of it.  Be strong, Man, and return here for support whenever you need it.

Best wishes for your dad and your family.

My boss got Prostate cancer twice, both times radiation treated, both times he recovered. First time was stage 4, and not expected to survive. He is still a pain in my ass 13 years later. His last battle was 5 years ago, no sign of return yet. Kaiser Perm. did the treatment too. He just spent $9k on getting his teeth fixed, I figure he thinks he will be around for a while longer to aggravate me!

My dad's buddy also was diagnosed with PC, stage 3+, and he is still around mooching tools and beers from my dad 4 years later.

Don't write your dad off yet, be strong for him and your family.

Really sorry to hear that....

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers...

I'm running the Royal Victoria Marathon next Sunday in honor/memory of many people who have been affected by cancers....I will keep your Dad in my mind and heart while I am grinding out the miles...

Sincerely,

Jim

MontanaN8V,

I pray that you may share the joy of your father's company while fishing in the coming years.

Almighty and Eternal God,
You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You.
Hear us for Your sick servant
for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
he may give thanks to You in Your Church.

Through Christ our Lord.
