enforcement is pretty strict, but punishment seems pretty lax.  Dude was twice put on probation, and now this is his third bust.  Wonder what'll happen, if anything.  Maybe 1 day in jail max, with overcrowding issue.

There's one way to fix this bum...

1) pliers
2) blowtorch
3) 5 minutes in a soundproof room

He'll never so much as jaywalk again...  :smt013

How can his actions be interpeted as anything but illegal commercial harvesting? The term "blatant disregard" seems incapable of capturing this guys attitude. He has proven that he will continue to break the law if given the opportunity, but life in prison will not fly. What is an appropriate sentence for this a@#hole?

They should post his picture in Tackle and Dive Shops as a repeat offender along with the Caltip # and take away his Hunting and Fishing License for life.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I won't go so far as recommending the Bush-esque torture methods, but this guy needs the book thrown at him hard!  With jail overcrowding I think a few thousand hours of community service would be in order along with a fine of at least $250,000.  I also like Mick's idea - poster-boy and definitely no license forever.

I was thinking about this guy while working outside and remembered that our state legislature was considering legislation last year that would require repeat DUI offenders to purchase special license plates that identified them as such. I do not think denying this guy a license will stop him, and he could certainly come up with a million work arounds to this idea, but how about a repeat poacher plate. Any Wardens left after the proposed emergency budget adjustments would be alerted to his location. Confiscation of vehicles used by repeat poachers in the act of poaching, would limit the  number of people that would loan this guy a vehicle. He is an example, like Keating, Lay, and now Mozilo, for whom rules do not apply, or for whom the rewards of getting away with violating the LAW far exceeds any penalty that exists.  I see poaching destroying the population of a critter I happen to enjoy exploiting for my own satisfaction. Just gets me a little PO'd.

I think the punishment needs to exceed the crime for there to be any kind of deterrent.
Hitting him with more rules is what he is hoping for. He isn't following them now. What makes you think he will follow any others put in place?
Slap these kind of guys with "Clockwork Orange" therapy or a "Midnight Express" punishment and see how many offenders much less repeat offenders we will have.
