...yeah the concern is venomous spines or something right?  When i first saw it, bullhead(staghorn sculpin?) looking came to mind.  Whatever the case, it was sorta gnarly looking and i was hesitant to even touch it.

Cool fish. Thanks for the post.

Went fishing out of Newport Beach last year and caught some sculpins. Only the deckhands were able to handle those per boat rules.

Those weren’t sculpins. They were sculpins. Sculpins aren’t sculpins.

And I’m not making that up. What are called “sculpin” in SoCal are California scorpionfish, which are not sculpins at all.
