Hello All,

The NorCal HOW team has gathered and decided that our second event for 2018 will be hosted at San Pablo Reservoir on SATURDAY, March 31, 2018.  We plan to try and accommodate approximately 20 vets that day. We will be needing some volunteers to take veterans out on the water as well as some to help with shore duty tasks such as carrying kayaks, prepping and cooking food, ensuring vets are rigged up safely with PFDs and rods, etc.

Few rules:
1. No Alcohol allowed at HOW Events
2. If you choose to bring your own kayak, it will be subject to inspection by the lake employees. They can be strict.  Kayaks must be clean and dry, no water at all and no damp seats!  We usually could use a few folks willing to take vets out on our tandems or your own, in addition to guiding.
3. No SUPs allowed on EBMUD lakes. I am not sure whether the Hobie branded inflatable pool toys are subject to the SUP ban or not.
4. Its technically a no water contact lake so just be aware of that. They haven't been too strict on us before though.
5. Please take pictures of the vets, but ask them if they're OK with it first.  Some are not willing to have their picture taken, but those that are usually really appreciate the pictures.

If you think you can help join us, please post in this thread.  If you know of any veterans or active duty military that may want to attend, contact Raydon.  We'll also post up the event details on our FB page at www.facebook.com/NorCalHOW.  Please follow this thread for updates on what we need from you guys as to timing of showing up, cleaning up, etc.

I'll be there if not out-of-town for work related problems.

Alright Alright! 3 weeks out!  Time to get this show on the road.

For this event so far we have approximately 15 attendees so far from Palo Alto VA.  From our past, a good number of those will want to go out on the patio boat.  We can also accommodate probably another 10 participants.

So we need some volunteers:
Approximately 6 on shore staff doing food and shore duty
5-10 on the water voluntters
2 on the patio boat, 1 captain and one deckhand.

If you are planning to attend as either a participant or volunteer, please send an e-mail to Raydon @ Communications.norcal@heroesonthewater.org to let him know.  Please feel free to share this message!

Thanks.

Well now that I know it will happen rain or shine I won't worry about the forecast. If it rains I'll just put on my raincoat.

Hey everyone, please confirm if you can help us out on the water, in the kitchen, or anywhere else we may need you on Sat March 31st. We seem to be a bit short on help, but will manage like we always do.

Thanks
