Not sure where this post should go.  Be happy to move it if there is a better spot.   Been coming here in the winter to warm my bones.  It was 82 degrees when I got our the water the other day. Itís nice to fish in shorts!

Itís usually windy in the desert but you learn to adjust.  The bass seem to be moving into spawning mode right now -which sucks because I have to leave in few days.

I see very few kayak anglers here.  The Colorado River backwaters formed by the Imperial dam are beautiful. You can launch from places like Squaw Lake, Hidden Shores, and Martinez Lake.  These places are called lakes but they are backwaters of the river.  If you google earth the Imperial Dam youíll get an idea of what it is.  All the backwaters on either side of the river can be fished with an AZ or CA license.

Yuma is loaded with RV parks or you can rent lots for your RV.  If you just come to fish wait until late Feb or March.  If you are willing to have some tough fishing but want to kayak, play in the desert, and be warmer than home - anytime in the winter will work.
