I'm back to the gym three times a week, but it's more about getting my back ready to pull on some tuna in October.  :smt006

Mostly doing a bunch of cardio and light circuit training for now. I usually have my kids on the weekends these days, so instead of being out kayaking I've been sitting around the house playing with them. Not necessarily getting fat, but definitely stiffening up.

I teach spin classes three days a week and we are the most advanced class in our area. I can get the entire class up a steep grade for the entire time or have them do a 40 minute spring drill, almost non-stop. Talk about being in shape. They are animals.

As for what else I do, I workout with weights 4-5 days a week too. Being retired lets me have all the time in the world if I am not doing HOW stuff. Even being a guy in his late 50's and pushing 60, I can still stay with the best of them. Reason being is I chose this lifestyle some 45 year ago and never stopped. Just recovered from major back surgery in two weeks and am back at it.

I also peddle a hobie, but I really enjoy being able to just clean the Outback on the top of my truck. Folks ask how I do it, I tell them I practice with a PA! :smt003

Nice thread, it's always good to be active, and OTW stuff can happen.
It's good to be prepared (thx scouting)

60yrs old and feeling the decline now, but my weekly regimen is:
Swim 1000+ twice a week
Cycle twice a week - indoors or out
Ping pong(my martial art LOL) once a week
House and yardwork - every fucking day
Kayak - hopefully, once a week

Really happy the weather is getting warmer now :smt001

Yeah Str8FishiN, That reminds me of a couple times we were surfing in Humboldt and got caught in really unique rip currents that wouldn't let us get to shore like usual, along with a time we got 6 miles off Trinidad and the wind unexpectedly switched to a SE, right in our face. That wind put us hours behind our paddling plan. Darn glad I was in shape all those times.

I have a contrary POV.  The fatter you are the more blubber you carry.  Blubber increases buoyancy and heat retention, two YUUUGE assets in case you go overboard into the drink.  You are doing yourself a disservice by slimming down.  Instead, why not model after the elephant seal, one of the most prolific anglers on our pacific coast.  Think about it.

Beer and donuts all around - it could save your life  :fat

Shoot, If I can put on enough weight I won't even need the kayak. I'll fish with my teeth.
