The Ocean Kayak Trident may not be everyone's favorite boat, but it is mine. Let's take a look at the revamped designs for 2017.

The 2017 Trident 15 is 91 pounds but I easily carried it over my shoulders, something I couldn't do with my Predator 13. For whatever it's worth.

Paddled it yesterday and it was awesome.

Love my Trident 4.7,
If I didn't already have two, this would be my next.

Wish I wouldnt have sold mine! but RBark is one happy dude now!

When I went to Shadow Cliffs, I tried to launch. I was alarmed that I had a hard time staying stable in my kayak in perfectly flat conditions (albeit a little windy). I finally pushed myself out and capsized right off the bat. I was so confused that I had such a hard time. Then I stood up and realized my fishing rod was stuck under a chain link fence, so I was struggling the whole time against a rod being pulled down by the fence  :smt005 :smt005

Not my brightest moment but once I dislodged the rod it was smooth paddling. I may sell the Trident 13 2014. It was that nice.

That is an awesome tale.  I can't wait for my new Trident 15 (with rudder).  I dig the 4.7 Ultra but it still doesn't have the smooth line of Trident 15.

91 lbs is right there with comparative models in this class of fishing  kayaks. That's why I have two brand new 13's in the garage already. Well one now. I gave one to Abdiver. Lol

wow.  are kayaks getting heavier over time?  the thresher 155 is only 80lbs.  and i cant see what would make this kayak 11lbs heavier.....

These hulls are very sexy the way they appear to slip through the water, even when they are on land. I have an older one, a 2008, and I marvel at the sleek pin tail form  :smt007. It is a heavy beast however  :smt013  Wish I could add a rudder but need to store the boat vertically standing on it's tail. I'd git a newer one, but I can't afford it in terms of storage space?

Questions;

- Will the new ACS2 seat work on my '08 OK Trident?

- Can I adapt the new hatch cover to my boat?

Sorry to say it won't. Easily anyway. The hull of the new trident is the same as the old one save a new larger transducer scupper in the middle. The old puck style transducer hole is the same. The top deck was completely reworked. The 15 has a hatch in the rear which is pretty cool as that area was unavailable for stronger unless you installed a 4 in deck plate on the flat round surface to the rear of the tank well. The older 15 trident weighs 72 lbs.
