I was admiring my favorite old reel. A Pflueger 1492 with the bacolite handle and beveled arms on the reel cage. It still has the original brass reel seat ( un cut ) many of the fisherman back in the day cut the seal seat down to fit the rods of the day. I know it isnt worth alot but still really cool and functions smooth as the day it was made. Does anyone else have some cool old flyreels they might like to post pictures of ? Paging ScottV?? I would really like to see some cool shit like an old Pflueger Gem

I have and use some old Pflueger 1492s. They are 30+ years old but don't have the ring like that one. I think yours is older. I have a split bamboo that was brought back from WW11. It belonged to my Neighbor's Father. He gave it to me a few years ago. I have never tried it out.

I believe this reel is from the 1960s My friend who gave it to me recieved it as a gift from his father when he returned from Veitnam in the 70s and it belonged to his father prior to that. but thats all I know about it.

The 1492 isnt rare infact it is common but the 1492 Medalist is definately a classic trout reel.         I have yet to see another in person this old or in this good of shape.

Seminole Portage fly reel belonged to my Grandfather. Detail shows a man carrying a canoe. Postage stamp for scale, reel not more than 1 3/4 diameter removed old silk line cause that stuff gets nasty after decades of hot CA summers.

Cool reel Capt. I went to Tijuana in the late 60s and bought some switchblades for a dollar each, neighbor wanted to trade a fly rod for one Fenwick FF108, I said deal, saved up my allowance and bought a 14951/2 with a Scientific Anglers WF10S I think it was like $12 for both all still work. Never forget the first day I took it out Brown's Hole lost most of the fish I hooked but landed 2 I was a proud puppy, Dad only caught 1 on casting gear.
