maybe broiled it would have been crisper...I cooked it on a griddle pan-high heat-fast -with some olive oil
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People arenít supposed to look back. Iím certainly not going to do it anymore.Ē

I just wanna know how it tasted.  :smt044
Bluestar I hope you have thick skin haha, these guys are just giving you a hard time. But I still want to know what kind of fish it was--I love mystery fish. Next time you see the guy, ask him what it was because I need closure!
If I had to guess, I'd say it's a saltwater fish...maybe pacific whiting or sablefish...both harvested commercially in CA via a few different methods.

The one time I had sablefish was in an Asian stir-fry.  It was EXCELLENT.  The high fat content gives them a buttery flavor.  I wish they didn't live so damn deep so we could catch them!

Hey guys. What kind of bird is this?

I contacted the expert investigators from NCIS. We reverse engineered this image and determined the type of bird it is.

Congratulations on killing the dreams and hope of children everywhere.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Just to clarify ...
You bought a fish that you don't know what it is .... You take home and butcher it (without knowing what it is) ..... I can only guess it was processes/cooked/eaten? ...... And now you are asking for identification?
Interesting at best .....
You defiantly have our interest,
Please fill in some blanks

I wonder if it gave him the runs?? or if he got high off it and wants another one.

We have all gone for sushi, none of us knew what the hell we were REALLY eating, give the guy a break.

I ask myself that question any time I pull up to a fastfood joint.

Do you guys remember back in late 70's or early 80's Stores were selling hamburger that turned out to be kangeroo meat imported from OZ.

If you go out of Moss Landing or Carmel, you can get to 800+ft within a few miles of shore. So I looked into it this year, and realized they are on the list of Federally-managed groundfish...which means they are bound to the same depth restrictions as RCG...which is 240ft here.

You can get the baby ones in <240 ft in the hole right out front of Moss.

Yeah, the depth restriction was kinda what I was referring to.  Just like how petrale sole are lumped in with federal groundfish and you can't fish for them beyond the max depths described for rockfish.
