Hey guys,
Going camping starting tomorrow. Will be going to Woodward reservoir.
Gonna take the kayak and just wondering if you guys know much about this lake?
What types of fish are there and maybe a general area of where to catch them?
Should I even bother taking my poles?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

GS

the lake has trout and bass.  for trout this time of year your best option would be to make the paddle uplake to the inlet. normal trout lures will work.

be safe though, the lake lice are real thick on that lake, especially summer weekends.

You can spot them easily,
Usually moving at high speed, and come in bright colors (see pic below) usually influenced heavily by alcahol

Been to Woodward twice.....it is a cross between an occupy camp, a thug bbq and any waterway on the 4th of july.

Iirc there are no designated camp spaces, its get in where you fit in.  Seen a dude literally pitch a tent between a dumpster and the porta potties then commence to bbq'ing.

I also had to board a boat with my emergency bilge to bail it out when its bellows started leaking water. Towed them back in and the guy said he to flagged over two dozen boats and nobody stopped to help.  Could be ahole central.

Lol.....there were quite a few jet skis.
I thought it was something that would bite me! I almost did not let my kids in the water. lol.
Camping was cool. Couldn't bring the yaks cause I didn't have enough space.
But next time for sure.
I'm kind of mixed about this place. Its cool cause cause you can stay up late, drink and converse without having people or rangers get on your case about it.
But at the same time I agree with agarcia. Definatly a thug bbq. Hella gangbangers everywhere but good thing I was wearing the right colors!
Had a dude swing by our camp site last night around 11:30pm and ask "HEY, HEY.....Do you guys know how to get to the paved road?" Went to talk to him and he had a black eye. Overheard him on the phone say he just got jumped by "like 10 people".
All in all a cool place but not the best. Definatly a party camp site.
Thanks for the tips on the lake lice and fishing!
Tight lines,

GS

Porky,
Thats what i was thinking too. But judgeing by how belligerant and drunk this guy was I can only imagine he stumbled onto a campsite he might have thought was a good place to party and the people at the campsite did not appreciate that.
The guy was drunk walking around yelling "Do you know where the road is?".
Not once did I encounter a group of people looking for trouble.
I can only imagine he did something to piss who ever jumped him off.
