Hey all,

New to the forums. I just picked up a Redfish 10 and a Tamarack 120. I've been fishing before but mostly as a kid with my dad. I'm trying to pick it up as a hobby and I've been out a couple of times and LOVE IT. I haven't had much luck with the fish, though. I've tried Folsom Lake (w/ worms, nightcrawlers, chicken liver and some lures) and the American River near Verona (w/ live sardines, nightcrawlers, plastic worms) and haven't had ANY LUCK. If anyone could help me out with a couple questions, I'd appreciate it!

Where are the best launch/fishing spots near Rocklin? (Folsom to Auburn is fine, don't want to drive more than 45-1hr yet)

What is the best way to find out what is biting and what type of bait to use?

Thanks much!

I'll post a local hook up soon. May hit the water tomorrow. Not sure where yet, but not too far from Rocklinish area. I need fish therapy.

Sounds good. I started compiling a google map of kayak launch points relatively close to Sacramento that I've tried out. If anyone else has any input, please let me know and I'll update it accordingly. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer! I'd love to go but I'm unable to go out until the weekend. I didn't even know about Lake Clementine. It looks promising. How's the fishing on it? What kind of bait do you recommend?

Do you launch right next to the dam? Looks scary, lol.

Launch next to the dam and park up the hill.  I use normal bass gear and cast toward shore. Senkos are good. There is a ton of fallen trees, so expect to lose some gear, or go weedless. I rig wacky and lose gear, but catch fish too. Weekends have more PB traffic.

Sounds great. Thanks. I'm dying to actually catch a fish. And I'm probably starting off at the worst possible time.
