PFD styles?

Get a non inflatable one....Seat styles (for the most part) will determine if you need a high back or not. Most people opt for the high back since then tend to work better with most seat styles. Additionally, you will want/need some pockets on your vest  for things like radio, knife, whistle, mirror, etc. Keep in mind if you fall off and get separated from you boat (it happens trust us) what you have in those pockets may/will save your life...this goes 100x when you are in the ocean

100% agree.  Most of the stuff I have in/on my PFD is safety related and minimal fishing gear.  Most of that I've figured out other solutions.  Dive knife, whistle, radio, etc etc,....

Safety first, always.

if planing to fish the ocean, get a non inflatable.....i have one that i used for 1 salty season and was very lucky there were no personal incidents.

Ok based on your guys recommendations i got the chinook pfd comin in the mail. Thanks everyone
