Chuck, how about putting a GoPro on Aki's head while on the water?   :smt005

Firmware update instructions were not as crystal clear as GoPro hoped they would be. But, after 3 days of head scratching and a very helpful tip from another user, I'm finally able to learn how to USE the remote/bacpac now.

I saw it at best buy the other day and was about to pull on  it. I'm gonna wait until the bugs are fixed before buying it.

Keith, the issue for me did not have anything to do with bugs in the new product; it was GoPro not being clear enough in their instructions as to updating the firmware on the remote unit. The instructions were clear that the bacpac should be connected directly to the USB port, not via the camera itself. So when it came to updating the remote unit, the assumption was to also do so without the camera. Once the bacpac was connected to the camera, the remote unit was recognized and therefore able to be "connected" to the bacpac and updated. Unnecessary grief and wasted time, IMHO, due to incomplete instructions.

Now to start using the bacpac/remote and see if there ARE any bugs.

If anyone can give me some input on the remote I have a few questions............
Let's say I want to mount my Hero2 GoPro on the front bow handle on my Pro Angler using a YakAttack mount that is about 2 to 3' tall, this will be out of my reach.  Can I turn the GoPro on and off using the remote and nothing else?  I don't have to have a cell phone with a wi-fi on and enabled or anything?
does the remote show the battery condition of the GoPro's battery?

Yes. Screen functions appear on the remote. You only need wifi to stream video to the Internet. Not sure about the battery condition display. Attaching the manual for you.

Thanks Howard!  What do you think of the remote, have you used it yet?

Works just fine, Ed. And, yes, you can turn the camera on/off with the Remote unit. It's a breeze to switch between video and still shots with the Remote. The testing so far has been done on the Hero2. Haven't tried it yet on the Hero HD.

Just looking for some clarification before I pull the trigger on WiFi BacPac + Remote.

I currently have just the Battery BacPac for extended battery play and am wondering if the WiFi BacPac + Remote also has the Battery BacPac built in in addition to the WiFi and Remote capabilities.  I could really careless about the WiFi, I just want the remote and extra battery.  Based on their website, under the What's Included section, it says:

Wi-Fi BacPac (with built-in Li-ion Battery)
Wi-Fi Remote (with built-in Li-ion Battery)

but I want to make sure that the L-ion Batter is for extended play on the camera and not the WiFi part of it.  Hopefully this all makes sense.

The Wifi bacpac has its own buil-in battery. When it runs low, it will take juice from the camera battery...not sure if it will work in reverse. The Remote also has its own built-in battery.

Hmmm.... an "Aki-cam" that's a good idea. :grommit:
It would be cool watching her jump off my kayak to retrieve ducks.

Hey guys the question I have has to do with the size of the SD card for storage.  I was under the impression from GoPro that their camera can only handle SD's up to 32GB.  Has anybody verified used a SD card larger?

My Wi-Fi Bacpac arrived yesterday. I charged the camera, wifi bacpac and remote over night.
Did all of the required updates this morning. Only had one glitch. The Cineform program wouldn't see the bacpac to update. I turned everything off, rebooted my PC and plugged into a different USB port. Everything worked fine after that.
