Sorry, I typed an extra "w" into the url.  I fixed it in my post.
I was introduced to Guayaki herba mate by my friend and fishing partner Falcon who introduced me to the company.  We've started many fishing days together "hitting the gourd". We're stoked and truly appreciate their interest in the sport.  I've never been a coffee achiever and drink less tea than booze but I really like herba mate.  They have a whole line of soft drinks and their energy shots are everywhere around here (in the stores).  I have a feeling those shots and all the Guayaki drinks will be flowing at the Fall Classic.

Right-on brother Spike !! This is gonna be a good-time for sure. Gerard's paella is legendary. I saw him beat Bobby Flay in a paella throw down on food network. He is also a hell of a free diver. Speaking of free diving, have you considered a category for biggest abalone?

Thanks Jack.  We're working on the abalone category and looking for a prize.  Safe to say, it will happen.  Regarding a catch and release category, there has been no feedback to date  So far, the attitude is "take it or leave it" from our phone contacts but I believe it's a great way to promote releasing trophy fish so we'll see if demand for C&R develops. Instead of charging extra, we can consider assigning the 4th place prize to Photo Catch and Release.

I don't want readers to get the impression that Guayaki products are stimulants or that we're promoting a stimulant at the event.  They do make an energy shot but their drinks and herba mate products are more like tea or soft drinks without the caffeine punch.  Talking to the customer service rep, mate has a different type of caffeine than coffee and tea and is an energy drink on a different level.  A traditional South American herb, it claims energy benefits without stimulant effect or accompanying letdown.  I don't drink coffee or tea but I've sucked down a few hundred gourds of herba mate with Falcon before heading out to fish and thinking back, it never hopped me up or gave me a detectable bump the testimonials at their site report. I've never tried their energy shot but I've had Rockstar and Monster drinks on a few long drives and never blinked.
http://guayaki.com has an amazing load of information.  We appreciate their support.

Thanks for all the great feedback, I'm stoked to be meeting so many new kayak fishers.  I appreciate the early registrations too, some folks who haven't posted up used the link at the page to sign up. The info on that page was pretty fractured and has been updated. Keep checking back as the date approaches.

Here's a detailed event page for The Fall Classic.  We'll keep adding information to the end of this page as needed.  The Registration and Waver Form will be linked there soon, emailed in the meantime.  http://www.kayakfishing.com/events.html

Good luck to everyone fishing this weekend salmon opener.  I'm really excited to see how close to shore the fish get and if they are there now.  With some good conditions, it could be a near epic season.

Again, thanks for all the great input.  We have a "release" catagory on the table now.  How many anglers do you think would participate out of 100?

Salmon Category-I think I hit the wall on boat prizes and not sure if I can budget as much as a sonar unit (with GPS) for another prize.  Since not everyone will target salmon, would anglers accept an add-on catagory for $10-15 bucks?  Kind of like a jackpot.

For short answers, feel free to pm me or email at spike@kayakfishing.com to help keep the thread readable.

Add my 10-15 extra Brother Spike...I'm in like Sin...................4 f'n yaks dude way to hook us brothers UP!!!  and 2 mega events in one month I can't hardly wait!!!

This will be a stellar yr for events for NCKA....and I've already missed a grip of them but NOT RB2 or RTM!!!

Thanks Bro... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
