PelYaker:
A while back I read something about a pully system to left the kayak to the ceiling of the garage and safely secure it. Can't seem to find that post anymore. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks, Phong

I bought a bike lift from Harbor Freight for 5 bucks. Works great. Just put straps around the yak that get hooked by the lift.
Fishbucket:
National makes a 2" single pulley "block and tackle".
that and 50 ft of rope lifts one of our Kayaks 12 feet in the shop.
I used the excess rope to make the slings. Have not taken a picture of them yet, maybe tomorrow
PelYaker:
I'm going to pick those up at harbor freight tomorrow. Hope it'll hold the weight tho. My kayaks almost 80lbs.
Just in case, Fishbucket, how did you rig those up?
Thanks,

According to the manual http://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/95000-95999/95803.pdf, the bicycle lift is rated for 44 lbs, half the weight of your kayak.
