ChuckE:
I got a last minute invitation from some friends from Tracy who wanted to hit the East/South Bay in their 20 foot boat in search of sturgeon. The 9ft tide swing and break in the storm made it look like a good plan. So, we boogied down to the Dumbarton Bridge and dropped anchor. We fished from 11:30am to 4pm and ended up catching/releasing 11 leopard sharks (to 34") and numerous croakers.... unfortunately, no dinos :smt009
The conditions in the bay were excellent -- barely any wind and it was like a lake till about 2pm when the storm started moving in. We stuck it out since we kept getting bites. Although, we came home empty handed, it was still a great day to spend with old fishing buddies.
BTW, when we got back to the San Leandro marina launch ramp, a local fisherman told us that 11 sturgeon we landed last Saturday by shore anglers near the Bayfarm Island Ferry. Well, ya know where I'll be going next :yak
