« on: May 24, 2020, 09:55:30 AM »
In case you have jack stands from HF you might want to check to see if they have been recalled.

General Talk / Parents With Youngins

Keep a journal.
I started one in 1996 and just came across it while going through some stuff.
Unfortunately I only had 3 entries; 6-17-96 Echo Lake, 6-24-96 Stumpy meadows, 7-1-96 West Fork of the Carson River.
My son was 4 years old. We did a ton of fishing together yet I specifically remember these three times.
Maybe because as I read it I am reminded of it? I don't know.
I do know that I wish I didn't stop.
How cool of a gift would that be to be able to hand a journal full of entries to your son or daughter as a gift when that have their first child?
Nice reminder that nothing more important to a child is the time you spend with them.

General Talk / Who was on Hwy 50 today in Camino?
« on: March 12, 2020, 03:17:47 PM »
You drive a white crew cab, white Lance camper, flame sticker on camper door with an NCKA sticker above. I think the license plate was MOWMOWS?
I drove up next to you in the 4x4 motorhome to say hi.
Didn't mean to startle you.
We were on our way from Ice House.
Soaked a worm for nada in the morning.

General Talk / Butterfly Oak
« on: February 24, 2020, 08:25:50 AM »
Yesterday, next to my burn pile, was a notched oak stump.
Perfect place to sit so I leveled it out with my chain saw.
After I brushed off the saw dust this was the pattern in the wood; untouched.
Very cool surprise.

General Talk / It's Been a Busy Year
« on: July 15, 2019, 05:35:22 AM »
Moved into a different house a year ago after 20 yrs in the previous one.
Needed something with fewer neighbors.
I like the number ZERO.
Wasn't ideal when we got it, but after a year it's gettin' there.

General Talk / Bad ass artwork
« on: August 16, 2018, 07:05:08 PM »
This was a gift from our loan guy.
It's a pencil drawing of our new digs done by a local artist.
The attention to detail is amazing.
Almost have the place where we want it.
Maybe I'll get to go fishing for the first time this year very soon.

General Talk / Worst Smelling Garbage Can EVER!!!!
« on: July 14, 2018, 09:52:40 AM »
So first week of garbage at the new house. New can, but it sits directly in the sun...for now.
We moved in July 23rd but the contractor finally left for good yesterday so still living with everything strewn about.
Wednesday is our garbage pick up day so it goes to the curb Tuesday.
I walk out to the patio to get the can and right above my head I hear a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. Big wings from a  big bird; then another.
I look up and see about 7 buzzards circling real low right above the patio.
Hm, that's weird. Then I get a whiff from the direction of the garbage can. OMG!!! Was it BAD!
I guess the heat box baking all the trash really went off.
I took the can to the curb, which is 130 yards away and forgot about it.
Next day I get the can, no smell.
I put it back where it came from, walked away, and got another whiff of that awful smell.
WTF???
So I put my sniffer to work and it took me up the hill directly above the cans.
Felt like a bloodhound, but I found it.
Not the can at all.
Not sure what got this little guy, but the deer haven't been around for a bit and they would graze in the yard as we sat on the deck.
Chadrock and I saw 2 deer bolt from the top of that hill down the side of our yard the day after I moved in. Wonder what made them bolt?
I am relieved to know it wasn't my garbage causing the gathering of buzzards.  :smt044

General Talk / Get Your Stash Yet??????
« on: February 25, 2018, 06:59:25 PM »
Probably not! They just opened in January.
Stash Brewery in the middle of nowhere.
Butete might know of it, he lives there too.
Garden Valley, CA.
It's a warehouse in the middle of a cleared out field of rocks. Nothing else is around it.
Dirt road entrance.
Pretty much a mom 'n pop operation.
Their beers are Belgian style beer, which I am not a fan of.
I tried every beer they had and liked every beer they had.
Tried either 7 or 9 beers. Who really remembers after 5?  I would order any of them again.
If you are ever in Garden Valley, check them out; or better yet make it a day trip.
We walked in and were the only two there, not long after the place was packed.. :smt044 :smt044
You'll get the humor when you go.
We will definitely be back.
