General Talk / Wheeleez cart, rails or not
« on: December 08, 2018, 10:07:07 AM »
Finally biting the bullet and buying a wheeleez for my Trident 15 angler after years of substandard and semihomemade draggers. Anyone else buy the rail kit? I want the best possible fit.

General Talk / Rod guide replacement
« on: August 11, 2018, 10:01:15 AM »
I've searched the forum but didn't find any current info. I have 2 rods that need guide replacements from wipe outs and poor handling. Anyone know anyone in the North Bay that does repair?

General Talk / Ocean Kayak Strap replacement
« on: June 24, 2018, 06:43:26 PM »
I guess the sun and salt have gotten to the straps on the hatch, ff shade and rod pod on my Trident 15 angler. Does anyone know if there is a replacement strap set or do I need to buy webbing and replace? Not sure the dear wife's sewing machine can work with the thickness.

For Sale / SOLD! 2005, 24' Komfort Travel trailer
« on: September 29, 2015, 10:14:36 AM »
Hi guys. I have a great 24' box, 26' OAL Komfort Travel Trailer that I would like to sell. Like new inside, only used a few times per year. I have never used the micro, oven or shower. No #2 ever in the toilet.
Has queen bed, a foldout jackknife couch and the dinette converts into a bed. Will sleep 5 with kids, 4 adults comfortably. It has spent most of its time under an included cover. A couple of minor dings on the outside. Normal stuff. I have wired a pair of nice, removable outdoor speakers. They came from a company that provides amusement parks. AM/FM CD is also wired for XM so you can get music or the Giants anywhere. My favorite part of this trailer is the garage back that allows you to store all your stoves, chairs, toys, etc in the back storage. No need to unload all your stuff after each trip.
Only issue with the trailer is that i brushed a power pole guy wire and f'ed up the awning. It is non operational. So the trailer is priced appropriately knowing that.  PM Me if interested. I am in Napa.
I am looking for $9500. I will give a $500 NCKA discount. I can send you multiple pics of interior and exterior by request

Other Kayaks / Vitog Nomad info?
« on: July 02, 2015, 05:28:56 PM »
I picked up a fiberglass Vitog Nomad thanks to user Eiboh at a great price. I know a few on this board have them and a friend has a near new condition board that is nearly 40 years old. Looking for info or websites on their history. Mine is serial #132 No year on the plate. No obvious repairs and just needed a good cleaning. I paddled her on the Napa river this week.  A lot different from my OK trident 15. Almost tipped a couple of times, but it moves nicely through the water. Anyone have a good information source for these old boards?

General Fishing Tips / How does tide affect rockfishing
« on: June 19, 2015, 10:28:25 PM »
I've noticed a couple of posts that mention favorable tides for rock fishing. What does that entail? A large or small swing? Fishing on incoming or outgoing? I have never spent too much time thinking about tide. What's the deal?

General Talk / Help from Subaru guys, please
« on: May 07, 2015, 02:06:08 PM »
I am in the market for a used vehicle, preferably something I can put a yak on top. My budget probably gets me a 2007 or older Forrester or Outback. What are some common issues that I need to look for or ask questions? $7000 doesn't get you much, those things hold their value.

For Trade / Scuba tanks for "J" racks
« on: March 03, 2015, 01:59:28 PM »
I have too much dive gear that is going unused. So, 3, aluminum 80 tanks for a pair of "j" racks that will fit square roof racks. The tanks are out of Hydro. They have air in them, so I would imagine they pass with no issues. I am in Napa. PM me.

General Fishing Tips / Crab trap upgrades
« on: January 03, 2015, 02:42:56 PM »
Enjoying a few days off so, in preparation for Crabfest, I thought I would add some weight to my traps.
I rescued these weights before a Machinist could put them in the scrap bin, they weigh about 3 pounds each.
Drilled a couple of holes near the edges for attachment. a couple of zip-ties and I am in business.
I placed them on the outside of the traps. I think they will settle in the sand.
And the pots still collapse.

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Van Damme 11/21,22
« on: November 24, 2014, 02:19:24 PM »
Looks like we were a couple of days early for the epic conditions. Conditions were far from epic on Friday/Saturday. Swell was up with breakers at the beach during high tide. Was divable at low tide with surprisingly good visibility. Once you were out of the mud and pea soup it opened up to about 15' near the reef. I am always surprised by the size and quantity of abalone inside the reef. We dove the southwest corner near the archrock. Very little kelp, great visibility and 9" abs everywhere. It is interesting to me how abs of a certain size tend to flock together. I was so excited with the unexpected conditions on my first dive I took one just over 8. I caught myself, slowed down and then grabbed a couple 9 1/4s. I had a friend come up for the day and he went home happy in the rain gifted a limit of abalone. Saturday the conditions were similar but visibility dropped off a bit. You needed to hunt around for clear water in the pea soup. We dove much closer to the rocks so there was quite a bit of surge. No fish that weren't locked down in the surge but still a considerable amount of large abalone. The best part of the trip is always parking the trailer on the south end of the lot and camping with an ocean view and a giant fire. We had the lot to ourselves overnight both nights albeit in the rain Friday. Might try and go up again early Friday if conditions hold.
