General Fishing Tips / Re: Tips on Mokelumne & Sacramento River?
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:45:36 AM »
I only have experience dealing with boats at Berryessa (who love to gun it). It seems like pointing the bow towards the wake was the best way to deal with it (correct?)

Bow or stern works.  I have fished Folsom lake by rattlesnake bar and with some of the high cliffs it can be quite the ride when a big wake is hitting you from the back and front.

Welcome Jared, you aren't too far away from Headwaters Kayak in Lodi.  You should give them a visit and test some of their kayaks before buying one.  They tend to carry just about everything that will meet anyones budget.

if you see a guy in a blue seaghost 110 that cant catch fish on Folsom lake that is me.

Wait, I see a pattern, those of us with a seaghost don't have a clue and everyone with a PA or OK 13 are killing it.  Its not us, its the kayaks fault  :smt044

I have a 7 yrs old daughter and it's recommended  for them to not have any/so little amount.

Questions like this from adults worries me.  Its recommended that you not feed them any or very little, but you come to an online forum asking for our opinions?  I mean, what if most of us were morons and told you to feed it to your child...would you do it?

Correction,  we are morons.  We may have traveled different paths to reach our own level of moron but don't fool yourself in believing aren't.   :smt003

I've never met you but my thoughts are this community rallies around each other.  What better way to let your kayak go than with a raffle at one of the larger events this awesome community puts together?  Something tells me that you may get at least $1800 for it.  Best wishes to you  :smt006

Kayaks / Re: Lost Creek Pedal Kayak

Saw the same promo and thought "too small" for the ocean but a value price for lakes.  Interested to hear as well if anyone has any knowledge on these.

General Talk / Re: Garage Rack for 11ft Kayak (need to buy not build)
« on: April 22, 2019, 02:25:31 PM »
went with 2 50lb wall brackets from home depot mounted into the studs (Cost less than $10).  I will get a little bit of a workout everytime I take it down and put it back up as they are 5 feet off of the floor.  Needed the clearance so the suv door does hit when opened (small garage)

Check out the vibe sea ghost 130.  It was my first boat and I thought it was awesome for the price! I would have kept it had I not gone for the peddles  Might even be able to find a deal on old stock right now.

Test driving is a must and Headwaters in Lodi has their Paddlefest at Lodi Lake on the 27th.  Well worth the drive and checking out because you will get to try everything they carry.  I went last year thinking I knew exactly what I wanted and the test drives gave me all the information I needed to make the right choice for me.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Found a bait ball... Now what?
« on: April 19, 2019, 02:53:01 PM »
I only bait fish for salmon but a guy could easily get two days worth of tackle in those unless he likes catching reef more then fish, then you could run out of tackle.  :smt044

If anyone is looking for a guide to hook into reef fish, rock fish, or tree fish I am the guy.  I seem to catch (snag) more of these than anything else.  Next time there is a drought, I am going to Folsom lake at rattlesnake bar and loading up on gear  :smt005

General Talk / Garage Rack for 11ft Kayak (need to buy not build)
« on: April 16, 2019, 04:56:55 PM »
I'm downsizing from a 4 car to a 2 car garage and will need to store my kayak on the wall of the garage.  A hoist will not work at the new home.  Does anyone know of a good low cost solution for a rack on the wall of a garage (I trust you all more than I trust the internet)

General Fishing Tips / Re: What is this?
« on: April 09, 2019, 02:24:54 PM »
That's a pretty cool video, especially the "gumboot". According to wikipedia, "The gumboot chiton's appearance has led some tidepoolers to fondly refer to it as the "wandering meatloaf"."

I'm tempted to change my username to "wandering meatloaf"...

If the shoe fits...... :smt003

Maybe there should be a poll on whose username should be changed and to what.

It is so "they" can watch us  :glasses7:

He might be a bit acerbic at times but I appreciate his attempt to be as factual as possible in framing his arguments.

We can all learn from Crash on this one  :smt067
