Current project = new bathroom. Haha
I havenít been fishing, but Iím building up some major WAF points for the summer. Already landscaped the front yard, setup new sprinkler & drip systems, built a raised bed for spices, and multiple dump runs...

Holy shit bro!
And here I thought I was going above and beyond by recaulking the shower today.  :smt044 :smt044

General Talk / Re: Harbor Freight Recall ~ Jack Stands

I have a couple of the 6 ton jacks but my model number is not on the list. Thank goodness; I'd hate to find out the hard way.

In case you have jack stands from HF you might want to check to see if they have been recalled.

Safety First / Re: Buddy system

The best way to practice getting back on your kayak is to make it fun.
First practice the basics. Get on your belly, roll to your butt, sit up, face forward.
This you can do in any water.
Now replicate conditions; but how?
Play 'King of the Kayak' with a couple of friends.
One kayak in the water upside down. First one to sit on it right side up wins.
Make sure everyone is wearing a PFD. Grabbing, pulling, dunking is not only allowed but encouraged. The ocean is not forgiving and neither should you be.
Practice in cold water. The effects cold water have on your ability to get back on is a real eye opener.
Don't imagine it; experience it.
Practice getting back on from both sides and front and back as well as upside down.
Another way to make things fun is to go out with friends and bring a small football. Play catch as you are paddling. Try to make some 'highlight reel' catches and throws. If you have to dive to make the catch so be it. This will hone your balancing skills without you even thinking about it.
Most important; practice, practice, practice.
For those of us that dive from our kayak it is something we have done hundreds of times.
Don't be complacent just because you did it once and think you are dialed in. You need to be Helen Keller when getting back on with zero thought involved. Off and on in the blink of an eye.
Lake Tahoe cold water practice.

Tote, only #1 picks in the draft go to the Browns...only to never be heard from again!

Amen to that!

General Talk / Re: How far do you guys paddle?
« on: May 20, 2020, 08:23:18 AM »
I would rather drive an extra hour to get to a spot I didn't have to paddle that for to get to the fish.
Definitely have a Plan B exit strategy if you paddle out that far.
Conditions and fatigue could mean you are not getting back from where you launched.
Bring a cable and a lock because you may have to abandon the kayak to hike to a road.
If you don't lock it up leave some kind of note explaining that it was left there intentionally.

I haven't hoarded anything since this all started an amazingly enough I've eaten every day and been able to wipe my ass with toilet paper everyday. Mind blowing; I know!
I've always thought it's better to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

Today's project:

Snagged a couple pallets and made an indexing rod holder.
I have a short ceiling in one garage and I got tired of seeing the rods piled up in the corner.
With this rod holder I can easily remove the rod I need and the ceiling won't be an issue.
Had the PVC and hinges. Used a scrap piece of plywood for the base.
When I get the chance I'll put some wheels under it.
Still needs paint which I have plenty of laying around.

This is a college fraternity brother of mine, Column Tinley, who got me into ab diving in the early 80's.
He got hit by a big great white just outside of Tomales.
