The other day I thought it might be a problem because I was uploading photos I'd gotten from Flickr. Today I can't upload screen shots taken of my iPad. They always worked before.

I went back and tried to upload to the group Camp topic and it didn't work again.

Your files may be borderline too large which is why you may sometimes and may not sometimes upload.

I have the same problem on NWKA, crop it a little bit and your golden. iPhone and iPad pics are rather large files.

It makes my brain hurt just thinking about how such code could have been written. If it is borderline too large, it is too large and should never upload...

I cropped the original ones I wanted to upload and it worked. I guess the screenshot of the error message is easier to compress and is a smaller file size than the google map screen shots. Was the file size limit changed? I've uploaded lots of google map screen shots in the past.

To shrink the resolution you can email them to yourself and choose something smaller than full size. If you don't want to lose resolution you can crop them on your phone or iPad with the edit controls. Other than that I use You Doodle on my photos. Photoshop it isn't, but you can add text, lines, arrows, shapes etc onto photos, and you can crop their size. It also does other stuff that I haven't played with.

I originally had trouble uploading these photos to a private message. They aren't too big and upload now. One google maps screen shot is 7 megs. Most other photos and screen shots aren't anywhere near that size. It can't only be photo size. These are much smaller than the google maps screen shot. I also just sent them via PM. Why didn't they upload before?

It appears my phones high resolution is the problem
And ya it sucks resizing every pic

Have you tried cropping them. You shouldn't need the extra software to do that so it might be a little easier.

I think I can fix this to some extent on the server side. The max size seems to have decreased with the last server move. Just need a free moment ...

If you email the pics to yourself, you should be asked what size, usually three choices, to send.

I think during these server moves the limit got reduced. I’ve upped the limit to 8MB.

Hate to tread jack but since we have you,I haven’t been able to post any vid from my phone.i use to be able to with my Samsung but now that I’m stuck with this iPhone I haven’t been able to.the vid was only 24seconds long.then I tried the 11second vid that wouldn’t load up either

I don't think we've ever supported video uploads directly. Use a service like YouTube.

I don’t think so. We specifically exclude attachments with video file extensions. Always have.
