New to the boards and kayak fishing

Greetings, all.
Greg here from Cotati checking in with my first post.  Recently purchased my first fishing kayak and I'm anxious to get out there and catch some fish.  Of course I know I've got a lot to learn, and I need to make sure I'm safe and well-prepared.  I work part time at a marine retailer, and I've been picking the brains of my coworkers and folks who come in for fishing related items.  Anyway, I'll probably be posting lots of questions so I can get out there and catch a few fish.
I assume that like most forums, photos are a good thing, so...

My Viking Profish 440




Hatch covers are stored in the garage.  Next project is to make a rack to hold the canoe and kayak, possibly with some sort of shade cloth or tarp as sun protection.

One of my kayaks is a profish reload. If i every see ya on the water you can paddle mine if ya want to try it out.
The 440 looks bad ass.

I really do love the looks of the 440- the color scheme is fantastic, and the features on the boat look very well thought out- the square compartment just forward of the seat has a well for a battery and under the blue plug is a recessed area for mounting a transducer.  Lots of storage, 6 rod holders and the two round hatches behind the seat can function as dry storage or as  bait wells- each well has a scupper in it, allowing sea water in to keep live bail alive.

@CptSloppywood- how do you like the Reload?  Not that I'm having regrets or anything, but I'm seriously considering taking advantage of my employer's return policy to trade the 440 on the Reload.  Mainly to get the TacklePod and the closed bow area.  I think there's a TacklePod available for the 440, but I haven't been able to confirm that.

Love the Reload. The Tackle pod is a great feature but beyond that it is a well thought out boat with rod holders placed in perfect locations. The only flaw is there is no hatches to provide access to the rear of the inside hull. I just crammed pool noodles back there and now nothing can slide back there to get lost.
