Here's an outfit that provide transport services to the San Juan Islands ... http://www.islandexpresscharters.com/

It costs $38-98 one way from Anacortes, WA depending on which island.  $10 additional fee for kayaks.

Of course you can take the ferry to the 5 islands Pisco mentions and it something like $40-50 dollars RT for a car+driver.  Probably a similar rate if you drag you yak on.

Hmmm ... I think I'll be checking into this for a trip some time this summer.

Allen, thanks.  Let's look into it a trip.  I hear that that some of the islands have some great campsites designated for kayakers only.

Hi Chuck:

The mother Boat looks cool but, one of the reasons I kayak fish is to save money so, I can  fish more often. If I had the extra $65., I would go out on a Cattle boat and, leave my Yak at home.  Some day my kids will buy me a PB.! Paybacks are a Bitch! Sorry, I'm no help.

ChuckE, I'll start a thread on the "Washington Kayak Fishing" forum and we can try to identify a date and an island.  There are a number of boat in camp sites in the islands.  I WILL make this happen!

Unfortunately the regs are somewhat restrictive up there.  Lings are closed.  Rockfish are limited to the FIRST legal fish caught.  So this may be a salmon focused trip.  Some time in mid august will probably intersect the tail end of the king run, with the middle of the pink run, with the beginning of the silver run.

Here's some links--

Washington Water Trails Assocciation mainpage

http://wwta.org/

Cascade Marine Trails Map (part of WWTA)

http://wwta.org/trails/CMT/campsites/san_juans/index.asp

There are more boat-in sites that are part of the state parks system, including Patos and Sucia Islands.

If I remember correctly, cost of membership in WWTA is $35.

When is ChuckE going to be up here?

BTW, is't mid-August Elk Tourney time? Late August and beginning Sept. can be very good for coho and pinks. Post-Labor Day there will still be coho and much reduced humans.

Right on PS!  I was having the same thought about post Labor Day.  See the thread I started in the WA section.  You should move this info over there.
