Walmart sells deep six divers for 15 bucks and they close at midnight. if you can't make it to fishermans in time Walmart is key. I've also found that dicks sporting goods has salmon gear but not sure if they have any divers.

Alternatively, just use a sliding sinker setup, 10oz, just more lines.  Like AlexB said, the fish is so shallow.

A 1-lb ball with a 3-way swivel and dropper would do just fine. Similar to a bounceball rig for halibut. You'd have a dangling ball to watch out for when you're netting the fish, but that's definitely not a deal breaker.

Heavy lead on droppers (not releases) is a pretty standard way to catch salmon in the estuaries up north (Columbia, etc) where the fish are often holding around 15-25 feet down. No reason it wouldn't work here, too, when the fish are at a similar depth.

Just throwing this out there... I fully realize it's off topic...

If you like having local tackle shops in your neighborhood (or any kind of local shop for that matter)... STOP SHOPPING AT WALMART AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!!!

(End rant...)

Lol. I think most people rather go to local BS first anyways. Not only are you supporting local businesses they usually know the scoop on whats going on on the water. You cant go into Dick's Walmart or Big 5 and ask the 18 year old kid at the register what are the fish biting on today.

you go where you can.  he tried all those other ones but they were sold out.  I don't have many tackle stores locally that are open any time that I can actually go.  I go to FW in Manteca any time I can, but the tri-valley is a fishing store desert. We only have guns fishing and other stuff, and they're only "OK".  They didn't carry deep six the last time i visited, and they recently cut their hours of operation.  I'll buy my annie's mac and cheese wherever i feel like.

I put a snap swivel in the front and hung a torpedo weight 4-5oz from mine...

Hey folks! My buddy Ron and I are going to fire up the mini grill near the picnic tables by the yak rental area (if permissible) after fishing HMB. If that's not an option we'll fire it up in his or my truck bed. We'll have chicken tacos going. Feel free to come on by and grab some grub and say hello. Obviously I haven't met most of you and we figure this would be a good way to do that. Dont be shy!!! Come on over!! Look for two Filipino dudes grillin it upon your return from the waters!! :smt006

I'll be grilling up some hot dogs and sausages, as well.

Come find us in the upper parking lot.
