Hi everyone.   :smt006
Anyone use a snubber when targeting salmon?  I've always used them for kokes from a boat and was wondering about trying it out targeting kings from a yak.
Thanks,
Nolan

I use to use the light fliex pink one. Worked great and adds another attractant to the presentation since they're not line shy. I think I lost one all season using it -- gives you a wide margin for error.

Nice.  That's what I was thinking - I could use every way to minimize error.  Thanks! :smt006

i don't think you need a snubber on a kayak....as long as you're fishing with the right type of rod

Yep, 80% of salmon don't pull even on a light drag, so the noodlier the better. I use the lightest 8.5' clarus or Phoenix rod. Even the ronco pocket fisherman has the right idea but 5' too short (more bend = absorbs the body wiggles.. not head shakes but the entire body does)

sackyak was using a snubber years ago after spending a bit of time on his friend's commercial boat.

It made me curious, but I'm happy with how I'm doing it.

One of the hardest things about salmon fishing is how each of us is subject to the "salmon lotto."  Even when we run the same gear as the guy next to us, at the same depth and speed, we are subject to the lotto.  It's quite possibly the best thing about salmon fishing too!  If we all got bit all the time it wouldn't be nearly as fun.  We enter the lotto with as many hours, minutes and seconds of good presentation that we can put down, and we hope our number gets drawn.  Those with the good stuff down there the longest generally win.

Good luck.   :smt001

I use a snubber on my hand reels! :smt003

But as most stated, a Med/fast rod will help keep the salmon from throwing the barbless hook; by keeping constant tension on the line when loaded....
