I caught my avatar fish on an ancient Penn 10 I've had since I was a kid

Heres my little collection. Not all Penns but that's ok. Got a couple Garcias in there. Need a little oil and new line but still function great.

Penn 500, 501, 140, 146.

BTW.  I like to use the old Penns as client reels, since they can take the use and abuse.  And, I am confident working on them fixing them up.  Sadly I've had a few losses lately so I need more. I have a small collection for years, but want to protect some of my long-held reels for posterity.

So, if anyone has some of these gathering dust that aren't in too bad a shape, let me know, I need to re-stock. Maybe trade other gear, guided trip, or even $ though my $ mostly goes to momma.

I just took a look at my shelf.  I have a couple Pro Gear 251, perfect shape that I will never use, I guess.  Willing to trade those....

The 500s carry more line than you will ever use.  Look for a narrow squidder, or my fave, the Surfmaster 100.

I like LOVE them both, the Jigmaster has more drag washers I believe.  The squidder has ball bearings vs just bushings on the 500.  Squidder is preferred by casting guys...

In this case, I am looking fro client reels.  Tough, reliable, and as i trim used line off the end I don't have to re-spool as often.  Both 500's I have rigged for tomorrow's clients are about 1/3 full.  Still plenty of line for RF, lings, haibut.  If they hook a white seabss, I'd advise dogging the drag all the way down and keeping their feet out of the water.

Eric you would love this one 146 I have with an Accurate frame.  Santa barbara Special I got for a Shimano Compre trade ten years ago (anothre story altogether.  it's reels like that one I will not use for clients.  I've had too many go overboard.  And I think pool noodles on the rod is gay.  (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
