Just wanted to give a little update on what has been going on so far this year with PIF 2015.

Just like in 2014, the $ generated from 2015 AOTY and DOTY registration fees will first go to pay for Piscean plaques for the top three in AOTY and DOTY, and for "big fish awards".

So far this year, we have already paid Piscean for the 2015 plaques, and put enough $$ aside for the "big fish awards".

We also have already given a check for $1,120 to PAL whose son James passed away unexpectedly.

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=62321.0

And...since 1/20 when I wrote the check for PAL we have already raised over $1,000 more for  PIF 2015 through AOTY/DOTY registration fees.

When the A-Hulls decide where the rest of PIF 2015 $ (from AOTY/DOTY and the PIF paddle event) will go we will announce it here.

If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.

THANK YOU!!!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

If considering beneficiaries based primarily upon need, it would be difficult (maybe impossible) to top an aged member who is homeless, suffering from Parkinson's, married but living apart from a demented wife in an adult care facility.

I am glad the money goes to good causes.  You can't help everyone so just do your best to spread it around with the intent it was set up for.

It's definitely not a decision I would want to make.  Questions like do friends of the decision makers get higher priority in the time of need.  Will someone get a large sum of cash for a medical procedure that is mostly covered by insurance.  What if someone is having hardship but they made bad decisions that led them to that place in life.  Do you have to share personal experiences in an open forum to be considered or if someone finds a situation where they think financial help would be helpful should they forward the details to someone.  I know if I am thinking it them most likely I am not alone.

I appreciate you posting where the money is going but as for deciding who gets the money or when the money should be sent out is beyond me.  The best I can do is pray the money makes it to the right families at the right time.

Those are all valid questions, DG.
And believe me, those types of issues are taken into consideration. It's not easy. The way we usually approach the situation/question/issue is by first asking "what is the right thing to do?" Because if we can answer that simple question, then it becomes a lot easier.

I have been more than satisfied with where the money has gone thus far. However this IS a subject that has crossed my mind. I continue to trust in the A-Hulls to make good decisions as to where the money goes. I'd rather not start casting doubt as to whether we (NCKA) are doing the right thing for the right people.

I have no issue with where the money has gone so far.  I also was not trying to cast doubt and I am sorry if it came out like I was.

I have personally seen good programs go into the toilet because of manipulators, fraud or other means I can not think of right this minute.  I am happy with how Jim has provided facts to everyone to review.  That alone makes me feel comfortable donating or buying raffle tickets at events.

I Believe that the A-Hulls are doing a great job.

The raffles in Monterey (and HMB) are proof that there is a lot of people feeling the same way, if there was any questions, there would not be so many prizes donated by lot's of companies, kayak shops and individuals.
I have donated bottles of wine and glasses, last year Eric aka donated about a dozen prizes, out of his own stuff, the year before Daniel donated a used kayak to have as a main prize.
and of course even if you buy tickets and your ticket does not win anything, you have won by sharing in the great karma that the A-hulls put together and making so many great friendships.

Just an update that with the $1,879 from the GS9 raffle we currently have $4,910.80 in the PayPal.

This combined with the $1,120 that we gave to PAL earlier this year brings the 2015 PIF total to $6,030.80 so far...and we haven't even had the main PIF event yet nor finished with the Hobie raffle!!

 :smt007

THANK YOU to every one who has signed up for AOTY/DOTY, participated in the GS9 Raffle, bought a ticket for the Hobie raffle and supported PIF in any way!!!

 :smt008

Sincerely,

Jim

Just an update on PIF 2015 $ after the main event last weekend.

Last weekend we had $5,960 in PayPal ticket sales, and $4,400 in cash and checks for a total of $10,360. All the cash and checks and PayPal $ has been given to Rob102 for his Dad Jack Forney.

This was our most profitable PIF paddle/raffle so far!!

In addition to that $10,360 we have already given $1,120 to PAL, and still have $5,702 in the PayPal (from AOTY/DOTY reg fees and Hobie raffle tix) and $160 in cash from Hobie raffle tix sales at the PIF event last Saturday.

So...
$1,120 for PAL
$10,360 from PIF event
$5,702 in Paypal
$160 in cash

Total of $17,342 raised via Pay It Forward efforts so far this year!!!

Our previous most profitable PIF year was 2014 with $15,300 raised for Porky's daughter.

Amazing to think we have already passed the previous high point by $2k and still have a brand new Hobie to raffle off!!!

 :smt007 :smt007

Huge thanks again to everyone who has contributed in anyway to PIF this year or in any year.

Love you guys and am super proud to be a part of this.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim
