Anybody has any experience with the Skimmer 140 Tandem in the ocean near shore?  Any idea where I can try one out?

The closest dealer to the ocean that might carry a skimmer 140 tandem might be Monterey Bay Kayaks. I am unsure as to what they carry though.  I've used a skimmer 140T myself but not in the ocean so I don't know the answer to your question unfortunately.

I have used my Skimmer 140 in the ocean and felt it to be fine, although more of a calmer day boat due to its relatively flat hull and lack of full boat length keel for secondary stability.  I imagine the 140T would be similar but it would have a different paddling position if you're in a tandem than in the 140 itself which is a solo boat.  The 140T is also a bit wider so I can't say as to how it would perform in chop/swell in comparison to the 140 solo.
