Title: Crabbing and Rock Fishing location?
Post by: M.A.S.HAT on December 02, 2017, 01:34:56 PM
I'm looking for a spot where I can drop  my crab pot and do some rock fishing while I wait for the crabs.  My usual haunt is Muir Beach where I can drop my pot in the middle of the cove and then go fish the rocks on either side.   But it looks like the swell and wind conditions will be a bit much for me and my buddy to deal with.  Hes a confident paddler, but has never fished from a yak.

Do any of you know of a good location where I can do both in the bay area?  I'm thinking Tomales or Bodega bay, but I'm not sure where to go.

Tomales has been good west of marker 5 in 20-30fow, no rock fishing though.  Gotta catch the incoming to the top.

HMB.  Drop your pots, catch RF and maybe a bonus hali.  Good luck!

Nothing looks good this weekend but for the future gotta to agree with HamachiJ. HMB is going to be best for the combo considering the likelyhood of crabs and the possibility of many kinds of rockfish and/or who knows what?

If you don't mind a challenging launch (like Muir) you could go Linda Mar or Rockaway, each with their own separate challenges. Rock fishing in this area is not as good as HMB IMO.

Not going to recommend Bo Bo.
