I've added a board for introductions and moved a bunch of introductions here, well, at least the ones I could easily find.  It's not just for newbies either, it would be nice to see some of you old hats finally introduce yourselves.   :smt002

If you are registered, logged on, and have zero posts, you will only be able to see this board until you make an introduction post.  Once you make that first post, you will be able to see all the other boards.

Click the "NEW TOPIC" button in the upper right, at the top level of this board (http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?board=64.0).  Or if you can't figure that out, just click http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?action=post;board=64.0

Just a little tip for the new guys on board:

Before posting a question, please use the search feature for common questions like "what kayak do you recommend" ...."kayak fishing gear?"...."what type of PFD do you use?"...."what VHF do you use"....ect. There's a lot info on these subjects on the site.

Thank you and welcome to the madness  :smt101 :smt120 :kick :smt091

I've made a change to encourage newbies to make an introduction.

If you are registered, logged on, and have zero posts, you will only be able to see this board until you make an introduction post.  Once you make that first post, you will be able to see all the other boards.

We've been doing it this way on NWKA for a few months now.  It works pretty good!

Most fishing sites work this way nowadays. And they aren't even in the same ballpark as NCKA, when it comes to fishing reports, tips, and community.

Wait, but if you aren't logged on you can still see everything but the Members Only sections (Reports and Politics) right?

So....lurkers can just not log on and be on as a guest and still see everything?

Just trying to figure it out...

Sincerely,

Jim

My guess is that all you see is this board. Once you introduce yourself it counts as 1 of the 10 you need to see the members only section.

Guest can see all the normal boards, but not the members only boards that require at least 10 posts.

This is not meant as a means for permissions to view boards.  If someone registers with the intent of joining and posting, this just gently pushes them to give an introduction.
