Pay It Forward / Re: GET YOURSELF CHECKED!!!
« on: June 16, 2022, 08:23:08 PM »
Hey Jim,
When I was about 25 I failed a hearing test at the lumber mill.
They set me up with a doc and after looking in my ears asked me if I was a diver. With amazement I said how do you know.
He said I had surfer’s ear From being in the cold water all the time.
It was a condition known as Exostosis .
He said if it gets too bad they can drill the bones that are growing together.

Good life and stay safe

Hobie Kayaks / Re: 2021 OB cracked hull
« on: May 07, 2022, 07:16:46 AM »
Found this crack in mine after a Shelter Cove trip.
Only had her for 18 months.
I received a new outback in less than a month from filling a claim.
Wasn’t grilled  on anything. Kayak city just wanted to see my Receipt
And yes I registered it with hobie after I got home.
Had to travel from Reno to Sacramento to get it,was the only negative other than finding that crack after bailing about 2 gallons of water out at the Cove.
I kept my old prowler for crabbing, diving, and floating rivers.
The outback for trolling and most all ocean trips.
After breaking a cable at Little River I’ve been bringing old yellow along for a backup.
Before I purchased my outback I demoed other pedal drive kayaks, and find the hobie to be more enjoyable to fish with than the others.
Best of luck to everyone and let’s hope hobie strengthens there materials to prevent this from happening in newer models.

This sounds like a great event, wish I lived closer and /or had time off.

Sunday after Shelter Cove I went for a boat ride with some friends from Shelter Cove.
A few fish from that Sunday.

Everyone always wants to point fingers and blame the others for what they believe is right or wrong. Especially when it comes to evil company's that are mining or logging. These days knowone wants to see any good in corporations.

Water diversion for pot gardens have made spawning waters none existent. No body wants to address this!

Some of our nations best conservation efforts started out in the 1800's and was funded by donations from tax paying companies that helped the local communities despite the opinions of some.
We all have a right to our opinions.

For many years in the 60's, 70's&80's we had great salmon runs in the eel, van duzen, trinity, Klamath, and smith rivers.
Yager creek had a great impact on the salmon with its hatchery.
The hatcheries were funded and manned by the local timber companies,Our roads were well maintained and not pot holed out and hazardous.
In the 80's&90's the timber companies came under attack by tree hugging environmentalists, that cared more for critters than people.

Many donations came from responsible companies for the people of the state. Most of the Redwood State parks were donated by the Pacific lumber Co. as were the fish hatcheries.

Here's a look at some early history.

Stop diverting water and build more hatcheries!
Just my opinion

What site is it?
Can I put my 26' trailer in it, full hook up ?
I'd be game to share.
My wife is the  celebrity chef from last year in Shu Land cooking with Roger. I have time off, but no space and Judy is not going to tent it.

Was looking forward to going home, but this Year my time off was denied a month ago,and sadly it looks like I'm not going to be able to attend.

Like Eric and the other local members I have enjoyed the beauty of the Cove. It was the roots to the ocean for me 40 years ago.

Thank you Eric for all you do for the community and the sport. You have made it possible for so many to experience the good life of the Cove.

Pyramid is a tribal lake and it's all pretty primitive camping.
They have some bathrooms in a few spots.
Warriors is a good place to camp wether it's in a motor home or travel trailer. Pelican is the major boat launch and there's places to camp there.
You just have to get permits from the tribe for fishing and camping and there happy to take your money.
I like warriors!!!

I have the 2018 and have my battery in the front and it helps lower
The front end in the water a little.
When are you going to come catch some world class cutthroat out of pyramid lake?
It been picking up a lot of throw back 22-23" and have smoked several that were 25".

If you have access to some compressed air, disconnect your propane line and shoot some air in the line to free any contamination that might be in the line.
You can get your heat up in  your smoker by starting a controlled fire in your wood chips. That requires a spray bottle of water, and sitting on it.
Or pull your racks and put them in your oven at 200.
Good luck!
