OK. I've made the change to remove the old Hookups board and combine with the Fishing Reports board.
There are 2 flavors of Hookups and Fishing Reports board. The first is viewable by the general public. The second is only viewable to members with 10 posts or greater.
In keeping with the new theme. Both the Hookup and the Fishing Report should go in the same thread. This also adds continuity to the hookup/report.

Thank you Allen. Happy holidays...
-
Hmm... This new format will take a little getting used to. I liked being able to browse the reports and hookups separately, and being able to tell what's what. Not all reports are paired with a hookup (many of my fishing trips are spontaneous, last-minute adventures), and not all hookups end with a report (wouldn't that be nice!).
Either way, thank you for your efforts on keeping this forum running like a well-oiled machine.
Cheers,
-Alex

Looking to go fishing with other people who like fishing ,...and Turtles!
-
I'd just like to find a kayak bass club in the Sacramento Area.
-
anyone going out in the Carquinez Strait tomorrow?
Probably put in at 9th street Benicia in the am
-
I need to get on the ten posts or greater one
-
Ok...
Well I've just recently started fishing from a kayak. Some previous canoe and kayak experience. Although, I also felt some of my motorcycle riding skills were useful on the yak. Been working on the rigging for my OK Prowler trident. Stuff is coming together. Pictures hopefully soon
Cheers :occasion14:

So that's why I couldn't see the hookups board. Thought it was weird that I could only see general public hookups.
-
I like the idea of the 10 posts.
So I'm either going to put in at Half Moon Bay or Timber Cove next month. Can't decide which. 1st time back in the coastal waters, in a yak, in a long time. It was in the kelp beds off Fort Ross, in an inflatable two person yak, catching cabazone and blue cod. Very exciting :fishing2
Other than that...I recently completed a 1/2 day yak trip off San Juan Island into the Haro Strait about 1.5 mi from the US-Canadian border. Awesome experience, both from a paddling standpoint and the beauty of the place.

Hey all, I'm still trying to learn where to "post" etc. Any ways, we'll be out at Still Water in Pebble Beach if any one wants to go. We should be there around 9. Also, Sat hitting Cambria, any recommendations on where to launch etc? :smt001

Jan. 1 is my first day of retirement. I plan to fish often. I really like to troll for trout and I am interested in the meeting up with other trolling enthusiasts. I am new to posting so I hope to meet the 10 post limit soon so I can view what other Kayak anglers are doing

Congrats on your retirement, Billy. Hopefully lots of time to fish now.

What's up, Nick?
My advice is to make a new post. Look for the "new topic" button - mine is in the upper right, just above the reports. Make a title like "Looking for info on north bay halibut spots", and then elaborate in the body of your post.
Good luck. :smt001

Also in that post clarify which bay. You are in Arcata so you likely mean Humboldt Bay. If you leave that part out you will get a metric ton of great advice for the San Francisco Bay.

Just need 10

So close to 10 posts

My buddy and I will be launching off cowells / main beach tomorrow around sunrise and giving it a go for a few hours in the area out in front of the wharf looking for halibut or whatever wants to eat a swimbait :smt002 I'll have my VHF monitoring channel 69 if anyone else is paddling out in the area

where does the wind usually come from out there? Im on the other side of the bay but have been interested in working my way out there eventually..
-
@Christianbrat: Wind is generally out of the west. Blows in pretty much straight thru the gate. It can get turned around depending on prevailing weather patterns.
I use weather.gov and drop a pin on the water outside of Encinal Boat Launch.
-
Plan on fishing at Stillwater Cove this Thursday 6/27. Anyone down to meet up?

Taking my new Feelfree Moken 12.5 Fire Camo on its maiden voyage to Bullards Bar this Saturday. If any of you are out there wave me down and say high.
-
The maiden voyage was a success. Love the new yak. Very stable and tracks well. Fishing was a little harder at Bullards Bar Saturday. Most likely due to the passing weather front. Got my limit of Kokanee but had to search for them. They were scattered in small pods at 40'. Never found a big ball of them. I expect it to return back to normal in a few days of nice weather. Then it will be back to limits in a few hours.
-
HaHa, I used to say that all the time on the old Fishsniffer board. Really miss that site. I was so busy trying to find the fish and working out things on the new Moken that I completely forgot.
-
I'm headed out in Morro Bay to fish for halibut this week. If anyone has any tips on rigging that works better down here please give me a shout. I usually fish in the SF bay for halibut and have good luck with a standard Halibut rig an anchovy on it....

Rockcod we’re hitting here as usual :

Ahh I wondered why there are such a limited amount of reports posted. Public vs private, got it!
Saw two kayakers off Doran with Salmon few days ago and was wondering if they posted details.
-
Thanks for the work, love the site, happy trails, R.
-
hey I definitely need to being doing more posts. really enjoying catching Halibut from a kayak.
-
Likewise! Been actually getting lucky with tomales bay this march.
-
Hey there Bolicks, what have you been catching at Tomales bay, I was out there several weeks ago crabbing, got enough to last a few weeks but no fish, I was hoping for some Halibut, LMK, interested, R.
