+1

Most things I use are easy to tie, but the halibut (live bait) setup took a while to figure out (snelled hook with a treble stinger). The way that works he's for me requires 3 hands, but since I only have 2, I use both hands and one big toe. I doubt you'll find that one on YouTube...

A fly tying vise is like a god send for tying at home.

I've had one for over 50 yrs, hate to admit that, and like a dummy I had it packed away so deep that I never even thought about it til last year when I found it during a home remodel project.

Along the same lines....what do you guys store your pre tied leaders in? I bought one of those little binders at bass pro with the zip lock Baggie 'pages'. Works ok, but requires you to wind up the leader to fit in the Baggie...which can be kind of a pain to untangle, especially in a good swell. Any suggestions appreciated....

I have used a couple different things -

One is the pool noodle method:

And the one I currently use for rock fishing is a leader material spool. My leaders are 3' long with a duo-lock snap one one end and a barrel swivel on the other. I try to keep about ten spares on it. I wrap the first one on, swivel end first. When I get to the snap, I hook the next swivel eye on the snap and away with the next one. On the last one I double loop a rubber band on the snap and put it around the spool. And, I usually have some leader stock still on the spoil, in case I use up all the pre-ties, there is something left.

I tried the pool noodles method. The pips leader keeper is the route you should go.100% small enough to fit in your pfd pocket.

Agreed if there are hooks tied on.

Each has its place, IMO. I put the noodle in my orange box behind the seat, I go in there frequently.

I use wine or champagne corks. Rubber band locks the line tight, fits into pfd pockets easy peasy.
