MFE max out at 30” and 6.1 lbs according to scientists.
That said, the state record for a MFE taken by a diver is 7 lbs 5 oz.
Wolf eels are not related to MFE.

Thank you. This MFE was longer but thinner. I'd love some recipe thoughts.

Nice monkey!!
Wolf eels have big sharp teeth and larger heads and different colorations...
Have attached a few pics...the UW pics are of the same crack that I have been visiting since 2014...have seen the wolves (sometimes solo and sometimes paired up) multiple times. :smt004
Any monkeys over 28/29 inches are really solid specimens.
They make bomb ceviche...

Congrats again!

Thanks for the info Jim! And for the kind words. I wish I would have measured it now! I'll have to try the ceviche recipe.
One of my favorite ways to cook them (or other rockfish) is heat a pan with some butter or coconut oil on low. Put in the fillets, seasoned with salt, pepper, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let it cook, covered, for 4-5 minutes or so, then flip and cut the heat off. Let it cook (with no flame) for another 4-5 minutes or so with the cover on. Especially large pieces of fish may need an extra minute or 2 per side, but don't overdo it. Pretty foolproof and super tasty stuff. Great with bread, on a sandwich, on rice, or whatever.
Hey Jason,Thanks gonna have to give SC another try soon on my yak.
This was out of Santa Cruz.

“Hello everyone,
I have made a change to the 2 reports boards to be Read Only. In this time of Shelter In Place, I don't want to see reports here that may encourage others to go. Please don't try to get around this by posting reports to other boards. I'll revert this change once the SIP orders have been lifted.

Dude, CDM, you totally set him up. He caught some nice fish and posted a picture of them. Right on.
No need for anyone to lie, and no need for any sting operations.
Carry on.

Whoa didn't realize that we weren't supposed to be posting pics- Sorry Allen. Not my first instinct to think when on a kayak fishing forum. I suppose I'll refrain from posting until its allowed again and just back date everything then.. (hopefully someone will inform me of that reopening too :smt044). Thought the colors were gorgeous and not too common.
I'm getting tired of eating so much salmon, I want one of those! Nice!
