Here's my kayak trailer.

Nice Yak-ailer!!!  But i do have concerns about trailer balance and swaying; you might want to consider moving the yak so that 65% of the cargo weight is in front of the trailer axel. Trust me, I know; because I am limited on kayak positioning on my trailer; I have to use water jugs in the front of the trailer to eliminate swaying. You have the option/ability to scout you yak forward on the trailer, thus shifting the wieght on the tongue and away from the tail; which is the main culprit of trailer sway. Plus it will also reduce your overall length....

+1 on that suggestion Glen.  Had it happen to me & seen it happen to others on the freeway.  You want at least 40# of tongue weight.  More is better.

Not sure if mine is a 'Malone' but I do have/use an aluminum kayak trailer with Hobie AI support craddles to haul my yak.  LOVE it!  Worth the investment.

Ran in to this Harbor Frieght Tools ( HFT ) blog post on utility trailers converted to kayak trailers w/pics. Might have some ideas worth considering if your thinking of going the HFT route :smt001. http://blog.harborfreight.com/harbor-freight-kayak-canoe-trailers/

Simple system that works really well, designed to be used on a military cot, but I think it would work with most aftermarket quasi military/cabela/BPS cots:

http://www.litefighter.com/LiteFighter_1_Shelter_System_p/fs1100a.htm

Something even more basic is the basic Army mosquito bug bar (a net that goes over the cot), comes with 4 dowels that are made to fit in the holes on the end of the of the cot support cross bars.  For 17.00 bucks it won't keep you dry or warm, but will keep you bug free, throw a basic tarp over it and you are good to go.
