I will shoot for Monday, but no promises yet. I am definitely going to fish somewhere, I don't see why I couldn't be Bucks.

Cool Trav, see you there.
Anyone who snowboards on a weekend is throwing away good $$$. Long lines and crowded slopes is not my idea of fun.
Chillin' with the NCKA group over good food and drinks and stories, that's what I'm talkin about.
Sick calls are what skiing is based on..weekdays man!

Do we pay there or in advance??
Count me in for 2.
Will there be any fishing before hand? I have never even been to HMB.
Mooch, PM me with your cell # for when I get lost on my way.

Does anyone have an all-in-one gps/fishfinder?
If so what brand and what are the pros and cons?
Do you wish you had a different model or are you satisfied with what you have?
I am trying to downsize and streamline as much as I can and I think a dual purpose gadget would work out fine.

Just remember that if you intend to participate in the big fish pool this year - you have to "paddle"

I am guessing you could "peddle" too if you had a hobie. Right???

I put Spenco Arch Supports in mine and I can stand and hike rivers all day with no probs.
Take the hook on the gravel guard and hook it to the furtherst shoelace. It should cover all your laces keeping the sand and gravel out.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Bait Tube... Torpedo Design
« on: January 09, 2006, 10:39:04 PM »
I took my bait tube out for a test run at Buck's Saturday. I had it in the water while I was anchored fishing..ZERO slap on the hull. I forgot it was in the water and pulled anchor and started paddling. Didn't notice any drag at all. I didn't realize it was out until I anchored in a different location and noticed an extra rope over the side.
I will be taking this thing with me every time I fish with live bait.

General Talk / Question about "New School Power Supply"
« on: January 09, 2006, 10:33:04 PM »
I got the 10 AA battery holder with the 2 posts that look like a 9V battery on it. I was soldering the wires to the posts and it melted the plastic around the posts and they fell through the plastic. Hopefully the JB Quick ( weld ) will fix it in a pinch.
My question is how do you solder the wires without heating up the plastic?

Sean thanks. you are EXACTLY right about getting thr URL from the thumbnail.
Mooch, funny you should mention the ticket thing. I am geting ready to pay by phone in about 5 minutes. It is $95 less if I do the school thang! Just hope I can do it online so it doesn't ruin a day of fishing. Maybe I could pic a school near Buck's and make a trip out of it.

HEY MOOCH, great pics!!
I don't know why mine look so small when I post them. Guess I will have to do a little research to see if I can get them to post larger.

I need to learn about the Oakland Airport launch. I am sure San Pablo is closer and easier to get to foe me though.
Jason, I forgot to thank you for loaning me the rod holder. I need to make a list of things so I don't forget next time.

Looks like I need to go out and shoot me some rockfish as my freezer is empty. Don't want to wait for the opener.
The GF made a suggestion that I make a trip to the store, but my kayak won't make it over the pavement!

General Fishing Tips / Re: Good braided line?
« on: January 08, 2006, 08:02:24 AM »
My favorite braided line is whatever is on sale at the time. I personally change my line quite frequently so 'sale' is my favorite line. I have been using Remington lately and have had no complaints.
I was told while fishing a bass tournament that the best knot to tie with braided line is a double Palomar. Instead of folding the line on top of itself and passing it through the eye of your swivel or hook or whatever you are connecting, you fold it over itself, then fold it over itself again before passing it through the eye. It is a little more difficult to get the hang of it as you have 2 strands of line for your loop instead of one, but it holds braided line a lot better than one loop. Mono doesnt seem to make a difference.
