Title: Elk Carpool?
Post by: & on August 07, 2006, 08:22:39 AM
Any Santa Clara yaksters heading up later on the Friday night?  I don't plan on getting into SJ airport until 7:45, haven't ever been to Elk, and would like to caravan if possible.

Is it going to be a problem if I show up at 11 or 12 midnight on Friday?  Don't think I'll be able to get there any earlier?

Has anyone plotted the address for the ECC for voice nav/ GPS?  Is it accurate?

Last year, hobie wan kenobie and I left san fran around 830 and arrived in elk around 1145 that night.  Wasn't a problem at all.  As you come into town it will be real dark.  Go slow and look for a little store on the left and a big dirt turnout on the right.  When you see the little store you make a left down that driveway.  There is a sign that says elk community center.   Last year we pulled in and just parked and slept on the side of the driveway.

It is really dark there in the town when you come driving in, I seriously could have used a gps last year.  jtf..

If you come in at o'dark-thirty please be quiet...I don't want to P-O the neighbors.  I will have a sign where to turn in this year.

Pretty much need a cart one way or the other.  Sharing is a little tough as most people leave theirs down at the beach, cause they don't want to walk back up the hill.

We are delivering a few to Elk for folks, let me know if you need one.

My advice would be to buy a cart from Sean and have him bring it. You may not want to buy one, but you will be happy you did after you haul your yak up and down that hill with it. I guarantee you will use it other places too. Makes things real easy when you have to travel across sand. It is money well invested.

Would mine be one of the ones your bringing to Elk, Sean?

And, if so, is a check acceptable?
