Here are some flies I tied tonight for the American on Wed.. Most will be swung on a sink tip, some will go on a standard line... I have not brought my tying stuff here so I went to Creative Sports today to buy a bobbin, whip tool, some bunny fur, dumbell eyes, thread and some flashaboo..  I spent 50 bucks for theh bunch... but not having a vice was the real challenge.. I have seen tyers not use tools at shows but no vice?  A dowel substituted not so well and I ended up holding the hooks most of the time.. gave up after two articulated models as they invariably stuck me in the fingers.  hate sharp hooks..!!!

Any way, if anyone wants to comment, critique, or just talk flies for any fish let me know..
Big salt water jigs should be the easiest to do but I have yet to tackle them .
I needed a reminder on how to tie these and went to youtube for a tutorial.. there isnt anything that is made that can't be found there.

One more pic showing the tools I bought...$15 give or take.. superglue and a small pair of sizzors finished the tools needed..

Thanks Tote..  Thats a Dr. Slick wood whip.. first time with wood.. always use the metal one.. this one is nice but I'll know when I get home next week in Utah.  I know I can tie big weighted jigs no problem without the vice but the smaller stuff requires one.  I'll post pictures if we catch anything nice.

Ended up hooking two fish on flies and 8+ on worms and plugs.   Worms caught this one right at Watt..
Lots of small smolts 10-14"  and this larger one.  I fish with crazy Mike at least once a month... He gets me to water that just doesn't get fished as much...

Dang. Very nice, fish and flies. But, without a vice? No. Please :smt012. I can't do that with a vice. Well done.

In the field when I have to tie a fly, I use pliers for a vise, and squeeze the handles between my knees. Nice work. I personally do not use a whip finisher, but they do make a nice finished head.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
