Welcome to NorCal  :smt006

and glad you are OK

When that Spearo got attacked last fall in Carmel I went out and bought a SS for my son the next day.

Probably time for me to get one too.

My buddy is the one who tourniquetted him in the cove. he bought 2 shark shields after that!

I have never seen a GWS while diving, but I think it would be ignorant of me to say one has never seen me.
Amazing the things that swim right next to you that you never get a chance to see.
Surfacing from a dive at Isla Mujeres I was told I almost ran into a 6' manta ray...never saw it.
Glad your encounter was nothing more than a visual. Still enough to scare the heck out of me.

Diving Isla Mujeres is awesome! i miss our seashell house there. #whalesharks

Sketchy! I was more bummed about landing on prime hali grounds and not getting to hunt! did you get anything yesterday?

I was in a different spot but had fun and got dinner.  :smt001

Think its time for me to give the sand a break and go back to safer diving like hunting stripers in the surf...oh wait.... :smt012 :smt010 :smt044

 :smt009 No Bueno

Silent Hunter has been zapped so many times by his shark shield he said he's experiencing PTSD from it. :smt005

That line about the shield for sale was more of a tongue in cheek comment. I def will buy new... just need to sell my harley first! =P Those things are dang expensive!

Sharky can tell you where to get one. He is from Australia, got bitten surfing, and his sister bought him a shark shield. Only person I have actually met in-person to witness first-hand the damage a GW can do.
He was actually wearing it at ARW. :smt004

I got a Freedom 7 loaned from my buddy at a local shop until I sell my hand gun to afford one. I used it on a vertical dive and the antenna tip came down toward my head... I could literally feel the electricity in my teeth!   :beat So i'm sure a shark would not dig it either. Going halibut hunting after work this Wednesday and happy to be "protected"

Looking forward to PIF!

glad to hear you have a loaner one until you can buy your own. I went a year without and was really stoked to get a replacement unit. The sharks in Cap started as 3-5ft fish, a few years later we were seeing 6-7ft fish, now it is 7-8ft with the occasional 10 footer tossed in.
In 2023 we'll be seeing some porkers out among us.

I was just having a convo about that! Big guys in the coming years.
I'm going to be diving up in that area later this month so I'm really stoked to have the shark shield since that is where the concentration is. 6-9 feet is a sketchy range because they're learning which mammals are edible.

Not very sure about the accuracy of this, Sean.....
