Hello All,
The NorCal HOW team has decided that our next event for 2017 will be hosted at Lake Hennessey on Friday, May 26, 2017. We plan to try and accommodate approximately 20 vets that day. We will be needing some volunteers to take veterans out on the water as well as some to help with shore duty tasks such as carrying kayaks, prepping and cooking food, ensuring vets are rigged up safely with PFDs and rods, etc. However, we would really use some on the water help so if you have a kayak and can come join us do so, or join us on the tandems.
This is a single day fishing trip for Friday.
Few rules:

1. No Alcohol allowed at HOW Events
2. We usually could use a few folks willing to take vets out on our tandems or your own, in addition to guiding.
3. Its technically a no water contact lake so just be aware of that. They haven't been too strict on us before though.
4. Please take pictures of the vets, but ask them if they're OK with it first. Some are not willing to have their picture taken, but those that are usually really appreciate the pictures.
If you think you can help join us, please post in this thread. If you know of any veterans or active duty military that may want to attend, contact Raydon. We'll also post up the event details on our FB page at www.facebook.com/NorCalHOW. Please follow this thread for updates on what we need from you guys as to timing of showing up, cleaning up, etc.

There was a trout plant on Sunday for a kid's fishing derby. Bring your big trout swimbaits and try to catch a monster.

We have Oklahoma coming Saturday for a small event with us Dallas folks. It is small but it will be fun. It will be at our small private lake where the bass have no clue on what they are really supposed to do. We'll probably hit them all of frogs even with 90 degree temperatures. They are just stupid fish!!!! :smt003

Official event times are from 8am-2. We will have some of our volunteers on site setting up by 7am, but most of the time vets don't show up until 9am or so and have breakfast first. So if you are planning to guide you can choose to arrive a bit later than the guys setting up. But our folks could use help unloading kayaks, setting up rods, tables, etc early.

We are at 16-20 confirmed attendees. Fishing should be real good too for bass and maybe even trout this time.

We may need a couple extra paddles. I have been thinning my herd of paddles and they were used for HOW in the past. We don't have enough for our kayaks now. I will be purchasing some soon, but not by tomorrow.

PS I dont recommend bringing your Carbon Fiber ones as loaners.

I have a couple paddles I can loan if someone wants to swing by Calistoga and pick them up and drop them off on the way back through.
