Next release from Wilderness Systems NEW PICTURES and VIDEO added pg 3

All the pics of prototypes so far are different than the production boat. It has been trimmed down in height all the way back to catch less wind. The nose too. Also, even though the boat is 30" wide, it is not all in the water. The "footprint" is not much bigger than the Tarpon 160. It will give more deck space without sacrificing much speed. The hull design will give more stability too. I love my 160, but I will get one of these when they come out. I get whatever boat I want every year from Wildy at no charge, and I will get this one based on the prototype testing I did, and the reports of the updates that were made since then from all of our suggestions.  I was told I would be much happier than I was with the prototype, and I liked it then.

Dave, what year is your 160?  My 2013 160 does not punch waves like my 160i does. It rides over them pretty well. Although on occasion I get one in the lap.

I'm embarrassed to admit that my 160 is so old that I don't even know how old.  I'm pretty sure it's not the 160i.  It's one of those old grey ones with the huge (poorly functioning) hatches fore and aft.  I always hated the hatches, but the storage space was great.  If I'm paddling out in good surf, I usually have to stop on the outside and pump out my boat a little.  The combination of the boat spearing the waves and the crappy hatches was not my favorite.

I have a SIK, a Dagger Magellan, that I love to paddle.  I'm in the process of converting that (not completely) into a fishing yak.  I'd love a SOT fishing yak that paddles like that, which is why I like the Tarpon I guess.

They're not going to stop making the 160, I hope.  I was thinking about buying a new one.  But maybe this one? Hmmmm....

Not stopping the 160. When I get the new one you are welcome to try it. Also you can try the new Tarpon too. I have the old Tarpon you have too. It is fast for sure. It's lighter than the new ones, but lacks a lot of features.

I'm digging the thigh straps. Straps and a solid low brace would save a lot of people from loosing gear.

The foot brace pic is actually the new rudder control. No more having to slide the controls forward and backwards.  Just use your toes to rotate the peddle now.

where are the mounts for the weber?
